(told in perspective of: Brutus)
We had to make it fast, there was no telling who or what would spot us, or when it would spot us as a matter of fact. As I walked through the west side of the Estrellas camp, I took long hard strides, trying to look as inconspicuous as possible while still looking for my lost girlfriend. And these strides, we're just any strides, they were strides of guilt, none of us would be in this mess if I had just kept a better eye on Cassandra, and worst of all, I asked her brother for help without even thinking about it, putting him in harm's way. What was I thinking?! Pandal trailed closely behind, sticking closely to my back, he looked scared, and I knew it was all my fault, all of this was. MY FAMILY SACRIFICED EVERYTHING FOR ME TO LIVE ON AND I CANT EVEN RESCUE MY OWN GIRLFRIEND! I tried to hold back my tears, if I start crying, then the entire camp will know we're here, I kept telling myself, and if they catch us the entire mission will be ruined, I continued to tell myself, you don't want the only girl you've ever loved to die like your entire family did! My eyes started to tear up, why did I think that? I shouldn't have thought that! Then I started to cry. We turned a corner and Pandal saw my face.
"Brutus, are you alright?" Pandal's face turned from scared to concerned.
"Yeah kid I'm fine." I sniffled. Great now he knows your not fine. I mentally smacked myself in the face.
"Are you sure? You don't look it."
"I'm good, you don't need to worry." I tried to reassure him but he seemed unconvinced.
"Look, I know you two are close, maybe you should head back to THE SPOT and I can finish up in this side of the camp."
"Nah, I started this whole mess, it's 'bout time that I finished it." Pandal nodded and we walked on.
"Is it about Cassandra? I'm sure she's fine, she can hold her own from what I've heard." Pandal continued to nag me.
"I know, I know, I just don't want anything to happen to her." I looked down at my shoes and muttered, "I don't want to lose someone again."
Pandal had obviously overheard what I said, "This isn't just about Cassandra anymore, is it." I sighed and nodded, no use hiding it now.
"Well, whenever you feel like talking about them, I'm here open to discussion." He laughed and continued to check the tents. We walked on and checked in a bigger tent that had tiny holes scattered in the fabric of the worn tent. We looked inside and found a broken chair and a bunch of guards moaning on the ground in pain.
"Yep, Cassandra was definitely here." I told Pandal. "Let's look around to see if we can find her anywhere." I started to turn around when suddenly I bumped into a girl with a messy, blond bun, purple glasses and some broken handcuffs.
"Arghhhhhh! I'm gonna eat you for breakfast!" She threw out insultingly then she loosened up when she recognized me. "Oh, it's just you! I thought you were a guard. Also, what took ya so long?" She asked us jokingly. "Also, who's this guy?"
"Oh the kid? His name's Pandal, he's a friend from Luna headquarters." Her face turned from happy to scared.
"From LUNA Headquarters BRUTUS?" I nodded and she started to back away.
"Don't worry, I'm pretty sure he's left Luna headquarters in the dust, just like I have." I turned towards Pandal and gave him a hard pat in on the back that almost knocked him over. He laughed and scratched the back of his neck.
"Guess I'm stuck with you guys now." He laughed and we all started walking. Suddenly, an alarm started sounding and a group of about 20 men came from either side of us, fully armed and ready to fight. We all huddled together, back to back fists out and ready for a fight.
"What do we do?" Pandal whispered into my ear.
"We... RUN!" I headbutted the nearest unsuspecting guard and we all took off, being trailed by 60 angry goons looking for a fight.
