the aftermath

"Donatello!"

For an hour, the Professor searched the Ulixes to find Donnie. The ship was enormous. During the search, many scenarios buzzed through Zayton's mind. He was thinking about checking outside the ship. The horrifying thought of a frozen Donatello floating in outer space crossed Fugitoid's mind, but he quickly swatted it away.

"Donatello!"

The last place Honeycutt thought to look was the armory. What was the point of hiding there? After all, there were just the array of glowing weapons and spacesuits.

But the Professor was thorough, and he eventually found Donnie sitting in the corner of the room, his shell turned to the robot. He sat cross legged, and seemed to be tinkering with something.

It was his spacesuit. It was just one shoulder pad, but Donnie was taking it apart in a methodical manner. In neat separate piles were the parts that had already come undone. Based on the pace he was working, it looked like he was a few rounds in of this back and forth of taking apart the shoulder pad and putting it back together.

"Donatello." His voice came out a lot quieter than he expected to. How was he capable of such a feat?

"I don't want to talk about it." Donnie seethed.

"I haven't even said anything. It seems like you do." The Professor put his hands behind his back as he moved to be face to face with Donnie. "And you are also breaking the spacesuit I made."

"I'm putting it back together, okay?"

"Oh, forget the suit right now! I have been looking everywhere for you. And here you are in your own world working away without a care in the world. Why are you hiding, Donatello?"

"Because I got scared, Professor! They started talking about-about—" Donnie looked up at the Professor, and his face became warm again. "Nothing. It's nothing."

Fugitoid, for the first time, bent down, and sat his hefty metal white posterior on the floor. It didn't come without the loud metallic thud against the white floor, but he sat nonetheless. The loud noise reverberated throughout the armory, the weapons against the wall shaking in response. Donnie flinched at this.

"Whoops! I certainly have to lay off the metal alloys and fusion core. Am I right or am I right?"

Donnie hung his head, and his shoulders began shaking.

"Oh dear..." Honeycutt wrapped his coily arms around the turtle and squeezed. "It's alright, Donatello. We don't have to talk about it right this second."

Although his body was cold as cold can be, Donnie felt warm. Not the horrible stinging warmth of embarrassment, but a homey warm. But then it got too warm.

"Ow!"

"Sorry! Thought I would take this time to use my heater, being that you're cold blooded and all." The Professor's screens closed, making him look sheepish.
