Chapter Seven
As soon as we had gotten out of the woods, Nancy drove us back to hers, it was silent in the car. I couldn't get the image out of my head, the creature.
Now, I stand in the shower of the Wheeler's house, trying to get every weird slimy substances off my body. Every time I closed my eyes, I would see this creature, and it scared me. I'm terrified, every bone in my body can't stop shaking, and Jonathan could see that once I had come in, borrowing some of Nancy's PJs.
Jonathan had tried to comfort me as I sat down next to him on the bed while Nancy when to have a shower.
"So... Do you want to talk about it?" Jonathan asked softly, wrapping an arm around slowly on my arms. I let out a shaky breath.
"I—I don't know." I stammered. "It was like your Mom had said, no face... It felt like a demon, I don't know. I'm sorry."
"Hey, you don't need to be sorry," Jonathan instantly said, shaking his head. "It's completely understandable, you've been through some trauma."
I pressed my lips together and looked at Jonathan worriedly. "I don't know. I wish I could've recorded it—It's too much to explain." He rubs my arm, trying to sooth me. I let out a shaky breath. Nancy had eventually come in, pressing a smile.
"Hey, Juno." Nancy walked over to me and bent down in front of me. "Are you okay? Do you want to stay the night?"
"Please." I begged. "I don't want to be alone tonight. Can—Can Jonathan stay the night, too?"
Nancy nodded. "Of course. You can shar emy bed with me." I nodded and Jonathan had gestured towards the floor.
"I hope you don't mind, I found this in the closet." Jonathan had gestured towards the sleeping bag.
"Yeah, no, it's fine." Nancy brushed it off, standing up also. "Let's get you to bed, Juno." Nancy spoke and I shuffled into her bed, pulling the blankets close to me and she climbed in on the other side, while Jonathan climbed into the sleeping bag.
"Light on, or off?" Jonathan asked from the sleeping bag.
"On." I immediately spoke, the lamp beside me was on.
I didn't get a single ounce of sleep that night.

The next morning had come around, and I was sitting up in bed reading a few shark stories. I hadn't slept at all and Nancy woke up to find me reading.
"Hey, you okay?" Nancy asked gently, and that's when Jonathan shifted from his sleeping bag and walked over to us, sitting on the edge of the bed.
"Yeah—Um, I couldn't sleep." I admitted. "Every time I closed my eyes, I just... Keep seeing that thing. Wherever I was, that place, I think it lives there. It was feeding there. Feeding on that deer. That means if... If Will and Barbara..."
"Hey." Jonathan placed a hand on my leg and I looked at him. "My Mom said she talked to Will. If he's alive, there's a chance Barbara is, too."
"That means that's she's trapped." I pointed out, my voice wavering. "In that place. We have to find it again."
"You wanna go back out there?" Nancy asked, her eyes widening.
I shake my head. "Maybe we don't have to. When I saw it, it was feeding on that deer. Meaning it's a predator, right?"
"Right." Nancy and Jonathan spoke at the same time.
"And it seems to hunt at night, like a... A lion or coyote." I began to explain my theory. I flipped my book over towards a lion page. "But it doesn't hunt in packs like them. It's always alone, like... Like a bear. And remember at Steve's, when Barb cut herself? And then, last night, the deer..."
