Chapter Twenty-Five

Holding onto Steve for dear life, Robin, Dustin, Erica, Steve and I are all screaming as the elevator goes down rapidly.

"Shit! Shit!" Dustin screams out his curses.

"We're going down! We're doing down!" Steve cried out, squeezing onto me and I almost past out from the lack of oxygen.

"No, shit, Harrington!" Robin snapped.

"Can't... Breath!" I tell Steve, smacking his arm.

"Sorry, shit!" Steve lets go of me a little me, only enough room for me to breath.

Smashing the buttons, Dustin screamed. "Why don't these buttons work?!"

"Press the button!" Erica exclaimed.

"What do you think I'm doing?!" Dustin yells, glaring at Erica.

"Come on! Press something!" Steve pleaded. "Just press the button!"

"Press it!"

Just then, the elevator comes to an immediate stop. Boxes fall off the shelves, and all of us fall flat. Steve was on top of me, and we were buried under a pile of boxes.

I let out a scream, feeling the weight crush under me and I was finding it difficult to breathe, again. "My groin!" Steve groaned out. "It fell on my groin. Dustin, get this off us!"

Dustin goes to help us, pushing the boxes off and helping Steve up and I lay there, breathing heavily as I stare up at the ceiling. "I swear I just saw my life flash before my eyes!" I exclaimed.

"Is everyone okay?" Robin asked, helping me up.

"Yeah," Steve speaks furiously. "I'm great now I know Russians can't designs elevators!" He smashes the buttons.

"We've clearly established that those buttons don't work." Robin rolled her eyes.

"They're buttons," Steve stresses. "They have to do something."

"Yeah, if we had a keycard." Robin broke to us. I almost groaned forgetting that we needed that.

"A what?" Steve breathlessly says, turning to her.

"It's an electrical lock." Robin began to explain. "Same as the loading dock door. If we don't have a keycard, it won't operate. Meaning—"

"We're stuck here." Dustin finished and I almost felt myself having a panic attack.

"Yeah." Steve quietly said and I ran a hand through my hair, feeling stressed out.

"Just so you nerds are aware, I'm suppose to be spending the night at Tina's." Erica begins her rant. "And Tina always covers for me. But if I'm not home for Uncle Jack's party tomorrow, and my Mom finds out you four are responsible, she's gonna hunt you down one by one, and slit your throat."

Steve turns to her angrily. "I don't care about Tina! Or Uncle Jack's party!" He composes himself. "Your Mom's not going t be able to find us if we're dead in a Russian elevator!"

Before I could freak out and pass out, Dustin comes up with an idea. "Hey. What if we climbed out?"

Dustin points to a hatch in the ceiling. Once we were able to get the hatch open, Dustin climbs out, and Steve is right behind along with me. We looked up in awe.

"What were you saying about climbing?"

Steve's voice echoes as we're about 15 floors deep into the ground.

︾

"Those boys are so loud and annoying." I moaned, trying to shift comfortably on the ground as we had been here for at least 12 hours. Dustin and Steve are up on the roof, Dustin was on the walkie-talkie trying to get in contact with anyone really at this point.
