Chapter Twenty-Nine

I felt a little lightheaded as soon as Steve smashed the car into Billy's to stop Billy from killing Nancy who stands in front of the Cadilac with a gun. Steve looked at Robin and I. "Are you guys okay?"

"Ask me tomorrow," Robin tells him.

"Could be doing better," I admitted, before climbing out of the car with them. I looked up at the roof of the Starcourt and to see the Mind Flayer emerges.

"Oh, shit." Robin cursed her eyes widening.

The Wheeler Wagon pulls up beside us. "Get in!" Nancy exclaimed and we jumped into the back where everyone but El, Mike, and Max is in.

"Wait—Where's El?" I asked, leaning forward to look at Will and Lucas.

"They're still in there, we're just drawing the Mind Flayer away," Lucas informed me. "Don't worry, El's fine." Lucas saying that made my subconscious a little relaxed.

The Mind Flayer was chasing us as we got as far away from the Starcourt as we possibly could. Through our walkie-talkies, we could hear Dustin and a girl's voice connect. We all looked at the walkie-talkie.

"Dusty-bun, do you copy?" A girl's voice spoke through.

"I copy, Suzie-poo." Dustin's voice could be heard. My mouth almost dropped. "It sounds much better now, thanks."

Steve and I both locked eyes. "Suzie." We spoke in sync.

"Okay, so listen," Dustin began. "Do you know Planks constant?"

"Do you know the Earth orbits the sun?" I could practically hear Suzie smiling. She sounds so sweet.

"Okay, so I know it starts with two sixes, and then aWhat is it?" Dustin asked.

"Okay, let me just be clear on this," Suzie started. "I haven't heard from you in a week, and now you want a mathematical equation you should know so you cansave the world?"

"Suzie-poo, I promise, I will make it up to you as soon as possible," Dustin promises.

"You can make it up to me now." Suzie requested.

"What?" Dustin questioned.

"I want to hear it." Suzie tells him and I give Steve a look. Hear what?

"Not right now." Dustin nervously spoke.

"Yes, now, Dusty-bun." Suzie whined.

"Suzie-poo, this is urgent." Dustin pleaded.

"Yes, yes, you're saving the world," Suzie snapped. "I heard you the first time. But Ged is also saving Earthsea and he's about to confront the shadow, so this is Suzie, signing off."

"Wait, wait, wait!" Dustin yelled. "Okay." He then begins to sing. "Turn around. Look at what you see... In her face..."

Steve, Robin, and I are in the back of the Wheeler Wagon, absolutely appalled by this. He's singing at a time like this?

Together, both Suzie and Dustin harmonized. "Look at what you see. In her face, the mirror of your dreams. Make-believe I'm everywhere, given in the light. Written on the pages is, the answer to a never-ending story. Reach the stars, fly a fantasy. Dream a dream, and what you see will be. Rhymes that keep their secret will, unfold behind the clouds. And there upon the rainbow is, the answer to a never-ending story."
