"Dim the light, my lullaby. Touch me now, stop pretending. Fuck it, watch me burn."

~

Hermione

THE emergency room has been bustling all day, I haven't had time to actually sit down. With assisting on surgeries and managing the emergency room, I don't think I have ate. One more hour on my shift and I can finally say hello to my bed after two days.

Two days.

That's also how long it's been since I have heard from Leo. I've left voicemails and messages for him to return, but every time I check my phone, I'm greeted with nothing and silence.

It feels like I'm in the dark at times with this man. Yes the past month and weeks have been nice getting to know him. But I can tell I don't know everything about him. Every time we talk about work or our jobs, he is very vague.

I know what he does could be dangerous. But I don't want to face reality when that time ever comes to actually see or know what he does. For now I play along with his businessman act.

"He is fine, honey." Mrs. Darby says as she looks up at the small black flat screen over the rim of her glasses.

I chuckle removing the blood pressure pump from her arm, but I stop as my eyes merely glance up at the TV.

There stood Jack and Leo side by side as the headline of the news station flashed under them.

"BREAKING NEWS: JACKSON AND LEONARDO SICARIO HOLD PRESS CONFERENCE FOR THE UNTIMELY DEATH OF NOTORIOUS MOB BOSS, THEIR UNCLE VINCENZO SICARIO."

My breath hitches and my hands begin to shake as I stare at the two men on screen. Jack spoke to reporters as Leo stood tall in his dark aura. His eyes set and stoned unable to carve any emotions out of them. His face was void and stoic allowing nobody, not even me to read what he could possibly be feeling.

But that's not why my breath hitches, not even close. It's the name; Sicario. The Notorious Italian crime family that once ruled the east coast. I remember my dad being on duty when the FBI finally took them down. My dad worked endless hours for weeks and months.

I remember when I got older he told me all about. I remember how he told me it was the unlawful evidence and missing witnesses that heaved the entire investigation.

In the end, the only thing they was able to stick on one of them was the murder of a man in SoHo. That locked Vincenzo Sicario away for nearly life.

Their lawyers were good at there job though, because even though Vincenzo Sicario had a life sentence. He could have been released on good behavior with parole. The case was so big my father had been promoted to detective.

"Turn that up." I find myself speaking as I watch as the blonde brother step away from the podium so the dark hair devil can take his place.

Reporter's questions and camera flashes go wild, yet he doesn't cringe away from the excruciating attention.
