"They say I may be making a mistake, But
I would've followed all the way, no matter how far."~
Hermione
STRETCHING my tense and sore body, my arm stretches outward to the left of me. Palming an empty space on my bed where Leo once laid. I slowly sit up as I hear a loud banging sound.
As my feet hit the ground, they land on top of Franco's crisp, white button-down shirt. I smile slightly, glad that he didn't just whisk away in the night. Although the moon was still high in the sky.
Throwing the shirt on my body, I shuffle to the kitchen where I'm greeted with Leo's naked back. I watch him pour a glass of water his muscles contracting at the simple move.
I can't help but bite my lip, as I notice a few red scratch marks on his back. A few hours ago I was in a state of full on pleasure filled bliss all because this man. He made me angry, scared, hot, and horny. Yet, when we had sex and slept for the last few hours I felt safe in his arms.
"You should be sleep." Leo's deep voice fills the silence.
He passes me a glass of water, which I gladly take it. My mouth dry and slightly sore from all the moaning and screaming he had me doing.
As Leo turns and gulps down his glass, I stare at the man before me. His hairs is disheveled, he's in nothing but his black Calvin Klein briefs. He looks like a god sent present, but reality crashes down, and I realize he's nowhere near an angel.
"I can't just forget who you are and what you do, Leo." I mutter tracing the rim of my glass.
"I don't expect you to. You know enough, and that's all you need to know. Unless I say otherwise." Leo states as he sits our glasses on the sink.
"I don't want any parts of that life. I am on my way to being a surgeon. That side of you can't get in the way."
Leo sits on a stool pulling me to him, as he holds my hands, "Hermione, if we are going to make this work, we need to be at an understanding. That part of my life will stay away from you as long as I can help it. And as long as I am breathing, I will keep you safe. Nobody will hurt you tesoro."
"So you're going to live a double life? How will this even work? What about the police? I can't just lie." I argue snatching my hands from him.
"Omertà, it's a code; it's a law within the La Cosa Nostra. It means you pledge to keep your silence on what you know. Even if it's only my title."
"I never pledged—"
"You will. If not then you're a liability, and the power of my family and name cannot protect you if the Feds come snooping." Leo interjects his stare hard.
"But without protection, I could easily trade what I know for immunity." I counterclaim tilting my head.
"Hermione, you're not stupid enough to think something so little as immunity, will protect your life. Death is inevitable when you break Omertà." Leo informs me his eyes distant as he seems to reoccur a memory.
I place my hand on his cheek, "I want us to work. So if you try, I will try as well." My eyes search any doubt in the dark pits in his eyes.
Leo places his lips in mine and I fall under his dark spell once more.
I don't know what my life is about become, and I don't know what the future holds. But the fear of knowing that I am walking in the arms or darkness, death, and mayhem is as equal as the desire for the man in front of me.
