"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING?!" Otto screamed.
"I DON'T KNOW! Take a left!" you ordered, you heard a wail behind you, you cursed as you ran to the weapon cockpit.
"WHERE THE HELL DO I GO?!" Otto yelled."Continue our course! This has to mean that we're close!" You yelled as you fired up the weapons, you saw a long tentacle reach towards you and you fired, it screeched as it drew back.
"WE'RE GOING TO DIE!" Otto cried out.
"Pull yourself together! We're going to die if you don't calm down!" you snapped.
"How am I supposed to stay calm right now?!" Otto retorted, taking a sharp right.
You fired again, the monster drew back.
"How much further?" You asked.
"We're almost there..." Otto muttered.
You fired another torpedo, the monster screeched, you felt the submarine shake and you heard Otto curse.
"What if this isn't it?" Otto asked.
"Otto we don't have time to question this, DIVE!" you ordered, Otto mumbled something as he dove down into an underwater cavern, the monster reached its tentacles in, reaching for you. But it couldn't get you, you let out a sigh of relief.
"Is it gone?" Otto asked.
"Yes, yes it's gone." you stammered as you got out of the cockpit, you collapsed to the ground.
Otto smiled, and then he chuckled a bit, and then he roared into a fit of laughter, you looked at him.
"Why the hell are you laughing?" you asked.
"W-we almost d-died!" he laughed, you couldn't help but smirk, his laughter was contagious.
"Yes, yes we did..." you laughed as you got up, you looked out the window and you gasped, you weren't underwater anymore, you were in the air pocket, your theories were correct.
"Dear God..." Otto muttered, you ran to unscrew the top door, you were hit by the salty, humid air, but it was breathable. All around you was this glowing moss, it illuminated the huge, empty cavern. Otto stopped the submarine, you jumped out and laughed as your boots hit the slick, porous ground.
"It appears to be some kind of bioluminescent algae..." you muttered.
"Can you help me out?" Otto asked, you nodded as you held out your arm, he fell into your arms, even under the dim lighting, you could see that he was bright red.
"...you're heavy," you smirked as you propped him up, he gave a nervous laugh as he looked around.
"Sorry about that... I just didn't expect us to get this far, I was hoping that we would get this far but after we encountered that monstrosity I thought we were done for." Otto admitted.
"You did an amazing job getting us out of there." You added.
"Did I?" Otto asked, looking around the cavern.
"Of course you did, and now we're here! Come on, let's get our supplies." you went back into the submarine, you could hardly wait to get going, and you were grateful for this bioluminescent algae, you hoped the caves had more of it, it would allow you to save your light sources. You grunted as you took out the two supply bags equipped with everything you would both need, you attached your satchel and grabbed several water skins and canteens, you already had large stores of water in your bags, but you knew you could never have enough water, you learned that the hard way once. You double-checked the submarine and nodded, you turned everything off and locked the door behind you, Otto took one of the backpacks off of you and some of the water skins, you smiled gratefully, and he grunted as he put it all on.
