Otto yelped as he woke up, you groaned, still curled up in the fetal position. "Y/N? Y/N?!" he shook you, you just let out a whimper, everything hurt... It shouldn't be happening this quickly.
"Y-You said two weeks..." you whispered.
"Oh did I? Oh, oh no I meant when the drowned moon sets, then you are to complete the unification." Idh'yaa cackled.
"N-No..." you muttered.
"Wh-What is it?" Otto asked.
"I-I only have until the moon sets-AGH!" you cried out in pain, Otto scooped you up, you shivered.
"Y-You said you had two weeks." he stammered.
"Idh'yaa lied."
"Of course she did." Otto looked around at the creatures, they wanted this... "Are you all happy?" he snapped.
A monster nodded, one of Otto's tentacles whipped out and impaled him, the crowd gasped.
"Is anyone else happy?" Otto snarled, nobody nodded. "That's what I thought." he picked up the knife. "We're leaving." he declared, and he walked out of the hall into the caves.
"Y-You..." you winced.
"Save your energy... I-I'm here for you." he set you down on a bed of glowing moss, your face was pale and gaunt, you squeezed his hand for dear life, he winced at it, but didn't say anything.
"T-Tell me about the adventure romance you wanted w-with me." you managed to get out.
"I wish I could save-"
"I just want to hear your voice."
"...We would have gone somewhere more exotic. M-Maybe a Mayan temple, or just found some useless treasure map and went around the jungle." he started, you gave a weak smile. "I-I would have written poetry about our adventures, and read them to you-"
"Y-you write poetry?" you wheezed, the pain was unbearable, you only had his voice.
"Yes, yes I do."
"T-Tell one of them to me."
"I-I don't-"
"Please," you begged.
"I-I close my eyes. I hold on tight. I shut out the beasts. I shut out the monsters. I push myself forward. I trip. I stumble in the darkness. I feel the cold that seeps into my bones. I climb upward. I scrape my knees. I don't stop. I slip. I continue on. I hear them roaring in fury. I climb faster. I know they are chasing me. I can hear their snarls not far behind me. I run. I can see the end of the tunnel. I feel them grab my ankle. I kick them off. I run outside. I am free. I see my family. I-I see my friends. I hug them. I hope for the best. I close my eyes." his voice faltered before he finished. "I-I hold on tight."
The two of you stared at each other, you wanted to take away his pain... You-You wanted him to keep on holding tight.
"...I love you," you whispered.
"I love you too." Otto's voice cracked, a tear fell down his cheek.
"...I will make this painless for you." Idh'yaa finally said.
"Thank you." you saw a light, this... This was for the best, you gave Otto's hand one last squeeze before you let out your last breath.
"...Y/N?" Otto whispered, he felt your wrist, checking for a pulse... There was none. "No, no, no, no, NO! NO!" his tentacles whirled around him as he sobbed into your shoulder, he-he wanted more time with you, he didn't know if there even was eternity he didn't want to risk it, he couldn't-
Blood spattered over his face as a monster erupted from your stomach, it gnashed its teeth at Otto and screeched. It was so similar to his nightmare, a writhing mass of tentacles, its needle-sharp teeth dug into your flesh, Otto saw red.
"Y-You killed her." he breathed, he gripped the knife tighter. "YOU KILLED HER!" he roared, swinging the knife down. The creature screeched as Otto yanked it out, he stabbed the creature again and again... But he didn't even leave a mark. The creature turned to him and pounced. Otto clawed at the creature as it dug its fangs into his neck, blood spilled on the ground as the life drained from his eyes.
The creature grew, and grew, and grew as it devoured your bodies.
"Daniel get to your god damn station, we need to leave!" The Captain called out.
"I have $100 on them returning today!" Daniel snapped, staring down at the water, his eyes widened when he saw bubbles. "They're back!"
The rest of the crew hurried over, leaning down to see the bubbles, Daniel grinned triumphantly "See, I told all of you-"
"...The submarine weren't that big, was it?" a sailor muttered.
"Must be the water." another sailor answered.
The shadow in the water grew closer, and the Captain's eyes widened.
"That's no submarine," he muttered.
