Becky burst out laughing at her best friend's words.

"He did what?!"

"You heard me right, " Anya said softly a heavy blush on her face as she sat on one of the Blackbell's many couches.

She sat slumped in a chair, her arms wrapped around a pillow that she brought in close to her chest.

Becky could only laugh a bit more before smiling.

"Wow, he's got more guts than I thought he did."

Anya's eyes widened at her friend's words, she scrambled to sit up, her eyes peering at the girl across from her.

"Do you know what this means?" she asked her friend with wide eyes of anticipation.

Becky blinked. She had an idea of what it meant, but she wasn't going to tell Anya...unless she asked for it in a very specific manner. After all, she had already told Damian it was none of her business.

She spoke within her boundaries, "I think it means exactly what he said. He wants to be friends."

...

Anya blinked.

Damian and her...friends?

He was Damian and she was just...Anya.

Even the idea of it made her feel a bit strange.

...

But he was so rich...and popular. He probably had everything he could ever want at his fingertips. Why would a person like him ever want to be friends with someone like her? It didn't make sense to her.

Ever since she could remember she was one of the poorer kids in school. It wasn't that she came from a bad home, in fact, it was quite the opposite-her dad was a psychiatrist with extra skills that resonated from his work of being an ex-spy from his younger years, her mom was a certified bad-ass, who often stayed at home when she wasn't working in a tea shop, but compared to the money the Desmond family had, her dad and mom's yearly salary was likely pocket change.

She stared down at his number as her eyes skimmed over the unique numbers.

Damian.

If she wanted, she could actually call him right now and it would only take a split second.

Her fingers skimmed over the call button before she heard Becky.

"Earth-to-Anya, are you okay?"

Anya jumped, her finger pressing down on the call icon and she dropped her phone a second later. She scrambled to pick it up and cut the call but she was much too frazzled to hit the decline button, and instead hit the speaker, giving enough time for the call to go through.

"Hello?" the voice on the other line said.

She put the phone off speaker placing it to her ear before speaking.

"Hello, Damian, I'm so sorry I didn't mean to call you. It was a mistake-"

"Anya," he simply said.

...

Her heart calmed. She didn't know why...but the way he spoke her name seemed so nice. He made it sound so soothing.

"I didn't think you'd be the one to call me first, but it's a good thing. I've been meaning to ask you something."

Anya's eyes widened at his words, "Ask me something?"

"Yeah," the voice on the other side got quiet for a moment, "...meetings are on Monday right?"

"Oh, you mean for the art club? Yeah, Mondays and Fridays."

...

There was a silence.

...

"You'll be there right?"

...

"Of course. I have to be. I'm the president."

"Then I'll be there."

...

She blushed.

The phone call was cut and her heart pounded as she stared down at the phone before looking up at Becky.

Her friend had her hands wrapped around a pillow silently eating popcorn.

She smirked, "Oooooh~"

"Damain and Anya sitting in a tree k-i-s-s-i-"

"That's enough Blackbell. It's nothing like that."

...

Becky sat up, "You sure?"

Anya nodded.

She was almost positive.

There was no way a guy like him could ever possibly have feelings for a girl like her.

She brought out her school bag opening it up before drawing out the small canvas that Damian had drawn. She looked at herself in the picture as her hands skimmed over the work of art in a peaceful state. She blushed a bit.

..

Even if Damian didn't like her, this painting of her was too good for her to simply ignore.

She was definitely going to put it on her desk when she got home.
