After the weekend passed Damian found himself wanting to see Anya. It was convenient that they attended the same school but it didn't help that they didn't sit near each other in any of the classes that they shared. He also didn't have the luxury of bumping into her in the hallway.

He resorted to a text message to fix his problem.

🖌️: anya, come meet me at the break pls

He received a response in record time.

🌺: I was going to hang out with Becky and the others

🖌️: pls ditch them

Anya laughed at the sudden suggestion.

🌺: alright, but only cuz it's you

With Anya's acceptance, he managed to meet her outside.

Seeing her for the first time since the weekend he felt at ease. Anya approached him slowly, walking towards him before smiling. The two sat together as far away from the building as possible. There were a couple of students here and there but Damian spotted no one who could cause them to get into any sort of trouble.

As they settled down on a bench Anya opened her water bottle and began taking a few sips. She found herself looking around .The academy certainly looked different when it was spring. The cherry blossoms at the back of the school were certainly beautiful. She wondered how they would look when it was graduation. She was positive the scenery would be stunning. She was promptly snapped out of her thoughts when Damian spoke.

"You looked really pretty on Saturday."

Anya choked on the water she was drinking.

Damian watched her reaction before laughing, "What are you getting all flustered for?"

"That's no way to start a conversation," Anya insisted.

She could feel her cheeks warming, "You should've told me that when I was there. It would've made me really happy."

Damian smirked, "My dad was right in front of us."

He had a point.

"Those earrings you wore...where did you get them?"

Anya tilted her head, "You noticed?"

He gave a nod.

"I borrowed them from Becky. I borrowed almost everything from Becky...she seems to always know how to deal with situations like that."

Damian figured. Her appearance had seemed almost too fitting for the occasion. For the second time, Damian acknowledged that Becky was actually a solid person. The first acknowledgment was when she had kept his liking of Anya a secret.

"Did you like those earrings?" Damian asked.

Anya nodded, "Yeah. They were pretty." she smiled a bit, "They were probably absurdly expensive though. I want a pair of silver earrings like that. I should save up."

Damian made a mental note. He would beat her to it. He would buy them for her before she had the chance to.

Damian moved his school bag aside and out of nowhere, kissed her on the cheek.

Anya looked at her boyfriend in shock. Her eyes conveyed every emotion possible and Damain laughed yet again.

Anya was frozen. They were in public. More than that, they were at school. She didn't know if there were any repercussions if they were caught. Even so, she couldn't deny she liked the attention.

Her cheeks flushed a bright red and she turned away from Damian.

"Really?" she whined, "why do you always do things like that?"

Damian decided he would go further. His hand slowly crept towards hers. He intertwined their fingers before watching her blush increase.

Seeing he was getting riled up, Anya decided to concede. She leaned her head along his shoulder, closing her eyes for a moment as she enjoyed the fresh spring air. There was something about his shoulder that consoled her.

She enjoyed the silence for several moments.

The two sat with each other for a while.

"Aren't you happy you decided to be with me instead of your friends?"

"Yes," she admitted.

"..."

"Damian."

"Yes."

"I haven't heard back from any of the schools I applied to."

Damian looked at her in slight surprise, "Really?"

She nodded, keeping her eyes closed.

Damian frowned. Something didn't add up. He didn't like the sound of that at all. He, himself had already received multiple offers including the school he personally wished to attend.

He, of course, hadn't mentioned any of this to Anya. He didn't want her to feel bad.

Anya sighed, "We only have two more months."

Her green eyes opened slowly as she looked up at him, "I'm not sure if anything I did was good enough."

"Don't say that."

Her eyes peered up toward the pretty blue sky above her. She frowned a bit. Why was it that she felt so sad on the prettiest days?

She should've been happy. It was spring. The flowers were blooming, the weather was nice and she was with the person she loved, and yet all she could feel was an immense sense of sorrow.

"Can you come over later tonight?" she asked as her eyes returned to Damian, "I know you're busy but I need comfort."

"I'll be there," Damian said, not hesitating for even a second.

Anya gripped his hand a bit tighter and Damian reciprocated.

"Everything will be fine," he reassured her.

"I hope so."
