Damian sat across from his father in the living room. The lights were off, the windows closed but the bright flame of the fireplace made the room visible in the rather dark room. His father sat and drank a bit of tea in front of him. His eyes weren't looking at him but he knew they soon would and so he prepared himself.

Damian could tell an explosion was about to occur, it was only a matter of time.

He wasn't wrong either.

A second later, his father's eyes slowly rose up to meet his. Donovan took a final sip before putting his tea down on a nearby table and speaking.

"How long have you been friends with her?"

Damian responded.

"A while."

His father nodded slowly, "And how did you become friends?"

"We're classmates."

"And who initiated the friendship?"

"I did."

His father frowned at his words.

"I taught you better than that."

"Perhaps..." Damian's voice trailed off.

"Break the friendship."

Damian spoke in a flat tone, "No."

Donovan pulled out a document from behind him and opened it up.

He scanned over it slowly before facing his son yet again, "I did a bit of research on her. I see she's an art student."

"And?" Damian asked unamused.

"She's trying to get into a variety of top universities. Are you aware of that?"

Damian didn't say anything. He had a feeling he knew exactly where his father was going with this.

"I just have to make a few phone calls, you know that right?"

Damian could sense a threat in his father's words. His dad didn't even need to explain his words, he already knew what he meant.

Damian spoke, "So you want to ruin her chances of getting in?"

"Chances? There will be no chances."

Taking the document and placing it on the table Donovan crossed his legs adamantly.

"End your friendship with her," he said, his face hard and unmoving, "if you don't I'll ruin her life."

At the sudden demand something went off in Damian's head.

He didn't want to. He wouldn't.

All the nervousness in him evaporated at his sudden resolve. In his head, he had imagined that he would be on edge at a situation like this, that he wouldn't even be able to fight back due to being uncomfortable, but somehow he actually felt this would come to be refreshing.

He would be able to finally get it off his chest.

Perhaps he could also aggravate his father in the process.

"She's not actually my friend."

"She's not?"

Damian shook his head, "She's actually my girlfriend."

The horror that filled his father's face made him smirk. The hidden daredevil in him was coming out.

"And we've been dating for a long time now. I like her a lot."

Donovan stood stunned at the sudden confession.

"When you weren't here I went out of my way to get with her."

"Damian," his father deadpanned, "why are you telling me th-"

"Because I want to. Although you're telling me to break up with her...give me a week to do it."

His father looked at him in confusion.

Just a second ago he was trying to edge him on but now his facial expression was unusually calm. The look his son was giving him was rather unreadable but it didn't seem to hold any bad intent.

His father didn't like the idea of giving him more time to break up. He wanted his son to end their relationship right now, right this instant but seeing that Damian was so calm he figured perhaps he really did want to wrap it up in due time.

"Fine."

Damian stood up.

"But if you don't wrap it up within a week I'll-"

"That won't happen," Damian responded smoothly.

He made his way out of the living room and back into the hallway, walking down the corridor towards his room.

Deep down Damian had no intention to break up with Anya, if that meant he was going to have to fight for her that was what he was going to do.

Opening his room door he immediately formulated a plan in his head.

He already knew what he was going to do. He was going to make things difficult for his father.

He immediately went to pick up his phone texted a few things to his personal butler before texting Anya at once.

🖌️:Let's go out tommorow

As soon as he sent the text a response was being conjured up.

🌺: I'm surprised your not sick of me already

🖌️: that would be impossible

🌺: but don't you have to study

🖌️: I'll of do it in the morning

A few seconds of buffering occurred before finally a text was sent through.

🌺: okay, come over :)

Damian smirked. He would.
