𝓬𝓱𝓪𝓹𝓽𝓮𝓻 𝓽𝔀𝓮𝓷𝓽𝔂 𝓽𝓱𝓻𝓮𝓮A few weeks later, Damian invited Anya over for a special occasion.
Graduation was now right around the corner, in two days, and even though the summer months that came right after would allow them to relax and enjoy each other's company Damian wished to do something special before that.
When Anya was told it was an extravagant event she was thoroughly confused. Since when had Damian thought it was a good idea to invite her to something like that?
Even after going to Eden academy for all her life she still felt awfully strange about participating in high-class social areas. Damian reassured her that it would be just him and her which confused her even further.
Nevertheless, she decided she wanted to go.
Anya arrived in her father's car and was dropped off at the front of a grand venue. Her eyes peered forward at the large building in front of her and she bit her lip.
Was she truly prepared for such an event?
She wasn't sure. She figured she hadn't asked enough questions about the occasion but then again, Damian had been very vague when explaining it to her in the first place. Still, she didn't hesitate to make her way toward the building and when she did a man entered her line of sight.
The man wore a suit in a typical butler fashion and Anya watched as he approached her.
"Ms.Forger, please come inside."
Anya nodded following the man.
Entering the venue she had no idea what to expect. The situation seemed awfully familiar to her, wandering through a lavish grand place like this, it reminded her of when she had gone to Damian's house for the first time.
Her wandering continued until she made her way to a pair of double doors.
The butler gave a slight bow and walked away and Anya stood confused for a moment until the doors in front of her were swung open.
Anya was stunned for a moment. In front of her was an empty ballroom. There wasn't anyone in it but the room itself was filling enough. The golden chandelier above her twinkled, the gleaming floor shining as she walked across it but still--she was unable to see the man she truly wanted to see.
He was nowhere to be found.
In the meantime, she would wait for him. In the meantime, she made her way to the place that attracted her attention the most-the window.
In between the ascending and descending staircases, there was a huge window. Outside of it, Anya could see the many stars that decorated the night sky. The pitch black above her was calming and she looked up in a mesmerized fashion as her eyes wandered from side to side.
"Anya," a voice called out.
Her head turned to her left and she smiled, "I was waiting for you."
"I'm aware," the Desmond responded.
Damian looked like he usually did. Perfect.
His hand connected to her cheek and she blushed a bit.
"I wasn't expecting this...why all of a sudden?"
"We're graduating."
"I know."
"I wanted to spend time with you beforehand."
Damian sighed, "After all we're not going to the same school..."
His voice trailed off. Anya frowned.
She didn't like that fact at all.
Before the mood could sour Damian pulled out the gift he had in his possession and presented it to her.
"Anya."
"Yes?"
"Let's stay together for a long time."
Her eyes looked down at the black case that was in his hands, "Damian?"
"I knew you wanted these."
She looked up at him in confusion but took the case anyway. She opened it.
A pair of silver earrings, beautiful and shining
Anya looked down at them with her bright green eyes.
"They're lovely," she said.
Damian watched as her smile only grew.
"Congratulations," Damian said.
"For what?"
"You're acceptance."
Anya grimaced. She found the words rather bittersweet. It was an unfriendly reminder that they would have to part and go separate ways. She quite liked seeing her boyfriend almost every day. She didn't want to settle for calls and weekend visits.
"Damian?"
"Yes."
"I'm still going to try to see you all the time after we graduate. You know that right?"
"I know," Damian reassured with a smile, "I know you will."
Anya put on the earrings Damian got her almost immediately and only when she finished did he approach her.
He extended his arms around her and she returned the favour. Anya laid her head on his chest and relaxed in serenity. She quite enjoyed being in between Damian's arms. His embrace was the warmest thing on earth.
Damian rested his head on her shoulder, his mind clearing bit by bit.
He wasn't worried about a thing.
He was sure things would be fine between them, a bit of distance would be no problem for the couple.
They would still be together no matter what.
