Amber had successfully avoided Tara for another hour after leaving her at the pong table.

She had been bouncing all around the house; making sure nothing was broken.
She would also stop in the living room to smoke with Mindy, but that got old quick.

Mindy kept questioning her on confessing her feelings to Tara.

"Why do you care so damn much," Amber coughed passing the bong back to Mindy.

Mindy smiled lazily, "I love when the gays win."

Amber rolled her eyes, "I don't think she's gay."

"Then why has she been chasing you around all damn night," Mindy giggled.

Amber sighed and stood up from the couch.
She desperately wished she could read Tara's mind.
Was she just a concerned friend?
Or did she want Amber as badly as Amber wanted her?

Eventually, she went to check her room.
She wanted absolutely no one in her room.
Making out, fucking, snooping were all off-limits in Amber's room.

When she reached her room, her door was slightly open.
Anger quickly filled her as she busted into her room.

Her anger reached another level when she found Tara and Wes sitting at the edge of her bed.

"What the fuck is going on in here," she snapped at them.

Tara's eyes went wide in fear.

"We just needed somewhere quiet to talk...we weren't doing anything," Tara slurred.

Amber wanted to throw Wes out of a fucking window.

"There are plenty of other places to fucking talk, Tara. Not my goddamn bedroom," Amber fumed at her.

Wes sighed, "We were just talking, Amber."

Tara's eyes began to water as she quickly stood up.
"I'm sorry, I should've asked," she said.

Amber rolled her eyes, "Whatever. Just get out of my room."

Wes stood up and walked past Amber.

He stopped in the doorframe, looking to Tara.
"Can we finish this conversation outside or something? Please?"

Tara nodded, "Yeah. Just give me a second okay?"

Wes nodded and walked down the hallway.

Tara frowned at the anger written across Amber's face.

"I would never do anything...sexual in your bed, Amber," she pleaded softly.

Amber huffed, "You know how private I am, Tara. How dare you bring your fucking boy...whatever in here."

Tara stuttered, "I...I'm sorry...I wasn't thinking. Please don't be mad at me."

Amber sighed, "I thought you two broke up."
Tara looked down.

"We did. He just doesn't understand why."

"Well, explain it to him far away from my bed."

Tara stepped towards Amber, who quickly stepped back.

Hurt flashed across Tara's face.
Tara snapped, "What is your deal lately?"

Amber clenched her jaw tightly.

"You've been avoiding me for weeks, and you're so snappy with me. What the hell did I do to piss you off so much?"

Amber scoffed, "I haven't been avoiding you. You've been busy with Wes, who I just found in my goddamn bed."

Tara narrowed her eyes, "This is all because of Wes? Are you jealous of him?"

Amber bitterly laughed, "Of Wes? Come on, Tara."
"Then why are you being so cruel to me?"

"So you're allowed to spend time with others, but I have to wait around for you?"

Tara let the tears fall down her cheeks.

Not crying, Amber thought.

Amber hated seeing Tara cry, even worse being the one to make her cry.

Amber sighed, "Don't cry, please. That's not fair."

"I...I just don't understand why you're leaving me. I guess that's what I do...make people leave," Tara cried.

Amber shook her head and stepped towards Tara.
She pulled her into a tight embrace.

"I'm not leaving you, and it's my fault for all of this."

Tara cried into Amber's chest, "What do you mean?"
Amber sighed as she ran her fingers through Tara's hair.

"Just...shit I need to deal with. I'm sorry, don't cry," she said softly.

They stayed in this embrace for a long while, neither wanting to let go.

Amber decided she would bury her feelings if she had to.
She never wanted to cause Tara pain or sadness ever again.
If all she would ever be was Tara's best friend, then she would just have to make the most of it.
