For the next couple of days, Hokoro and Aoru found no way to escape. After that torture, Hokoro could barely even get up to do things. And the treatment that Aoru got was even worse. It pained Hokoro to see Aoru in so much pain. And the fact that he had been here and been tortured longer than he did, made Hokoro feel even more guilty. It made him want to protect Aoru even more. He wanted to be of use to the other. Therefore, Hokoro began using ways. Ways to appease that man in hopes of getting something good out of it. If he was lucky, he would get them some decent food. But if he was unlucky, he would get a kick to the face and probably some punches. On bad days, he gets flung around, beaten with a belt, burnt by hot charcoal and other forms of torture.
From all these experiences, he has learned when is the best time to appease his master. The male had also taught this to Aoru so he would not get tortured as well. In the days to come, Hokoro can be seen protecting Aoru numerous times from getting tortured. Aoru feels very bad, but Hokoro always assured him that it was not his fault. He always says 'As long as you have a smile on your face, it is enough to pull me through' and then he would flash a bright smile that would comfort the other. Akumo has not found them yet. Hokoro guesses that this place must be really hidden or far away. However, he never loses hope. He believes in Akumo. That he will come and save him from this hell. And he would bring Aoru with him. Then, the two of them will be able to enjoy good food and have good laughs together. That was what kept Hokoro going. That is why he is enduring all the pain.
Overtime, however, Aoru is beginning to become stronger. Hokoro notices that he is able to withstand some of the man's torture. It seems like the longer they stay together, the stronger the two become. Hokoro is careful not to reveal his strength. As Aoru has said, he does not want the man to use it to his advantage. That would be the worst case scenario.
Here's your food. Today I'm feeling quite happy, so you two are lucky
The man slips in two bowls of noodles that looked extremely delicious. Both Hokoro and Aoru quickly picked up the bowls and began devouring them.
Aoru : This is delicious!
Hokoro : I'm glad he's happy today
Aoru nods in agreement. The two quickly finished their food and all was left was an empty bowl.
Aoru : I wish we could have this all day.
Hokoro : Yeah me too.
There is silence between them.
Hokoro : Once we get out of here, you can eat all the food you want.
Aoru seems motivated by this and gives a hard nod and a determined look. Hokoro chuckles at the cute act and rubs his head.
Aoru : Oh! And I forgot to tell you!
Hokoro : Hm?
Aoru : I've now got this passive skill that allows me to smell danger and lies. Though the lie detecting part has limits.
Hokoro : Wow, that's a really good skill. It'll probably become extremely useful when we get out there.
Aoru : Yeah yeah! I think so too! I can't wait to use it when we get out of here! Did Hoko get a new skill too?
Hokoro : Hm...I haven't checked in a while, so let me see
Hokoro pulls up his profile and checks his skills. There was no new skill.
Hokoro : Seems like I didn't get one.
Aoru : Aww what a pity, we could've have celebrated getting a skill together.
Hokoro : Haha, yeah such a shame.
Although they were doing quite okay now, Hokoro knew that they might go insane if they don't get out of this hell hole soon. He needs to find an escape route fast or hope that Akumo will find him soon. The male really does not want to spend his entire life behind bars, so he needs to think of a solution while they wait for help. However, Hokoro has still been unable to find any kind of opening or any item that could help them to escape. And since their skills can also not help them escape, it seems there is no chance of them getting out of here soon.
Aoru : Hey Hoko...
Hokoro : Yeah?
Aoru : Do you think we'll get out of here?
Hokoro : Of course.
Aoru : What if your friends don't come? What if we can't escape?
Aoru lays his head on Hokoro's shoulder. He wears a frown on his face.
Hokoro : Hey, don't think that. I'm sure they'll find us.
Hokoro places a hand on Aoru's head.
Hokoro : Don't think about it too much. Just focus on surviving and one day we'll be able to get out of here.
