Max is in grave danger... and running out of time. A patient at Pennhurst asylum has visitors. Elsewhere, in Russia, Hopper is hard at work.

"Max??" Steve asks. Suddenly she jolts awake and is scared.

I sense Nancy, Robin and Nate run into the office and Dustin asks, "What happened?" Max gets up from the chair and grabs her flashlight. "I saw a grandfather clock. I swear."

She explains, "I heard some sort of voice, then I kept hearing this ticking sound. You three were frozen and I went into the hallway to see it in the wall." Max gets up and we all follow her to see her look at the wall. "It was here. Right here."

"A grandfather clock?" Max nods her head.

"It was so real. And then, when I got closer, suddenly I just... I woke up." Dustin adds, "It was like she was in a trance or something. Exactly what Eddie said happened to Chrissy."

Max turns around to us and says, "That's not even the bad part." We all meet up in the office again so Max can show, Nancy, Robin, and Nate the files.

"Fred and Chrissy, they both came to Ms. Kelley for help. Uh, they both were having headaches, bad headaches that wouldn't go away. And then... then the nightmares. Trouble sleeping. They'd wake up in a cold sweat. And then they started seeing things. Bad things. From their pasts. And these visions, they just... they kept on getting worse and worse, until eventually... everything ended."

"Vecna's curse." Robin says.

Max continues, "Chrissy's headaches started a week ago. Fred's, six days ago. I've been having them for five days. I don't know how long I have. All I know is that, for Fred and Chrissy, they both died less than 24 hours after their first vision. And I just saw that goddamn clock, so... looks like I'm gonna die tomorrow."

Before we could respond, a loud sound from the hallway is heard, and we turn our heads. It's like someone else entered the school or something got knocked over. Steve looks at us, then says, "Stay here." He grabs a lamp and I follow behind him. We turn right out of the hallway and whisper, "I didn't sense anything dangerous, maybe it's someone we know."

His grip tightens on the lamp, and I see everyone following us, Max staying in the back. We hear more ruckus and as footsteps approach, we all scream, and Lucas runs towards us. Steve almost hit him... with a lamp.

"It's me!" "Lucas?" "It's me." He reassures us and Steve is upset, "Jesus, what's wrong with you Sinclair!?" Lucas catches his breath and says, "I'm sorry."

Steve yells, "I could've taken you out with this lamp!" He throws the lamp down and I look down at the ground. " Sorry, guys. Sorry. I was-I was biking for eight miles. Give me a second. Shit. We've got a code red."

"What?" We all watch Lucas walk over to Dustin. "Dustin. I've been with Jason, Patrick, and Andy, and they've gone totally off the rails. They're trying to capture Eddie, and they think you and Y/N know where he is. You're in terrible danger."

I roll my eyes and walk over to them. "Why the hell would they want to know where we are? I'll beat his ass later, but we have way bigger problems than Jason right now." We all turn to Max and Dustin starts explaining.

"The Upside Down is back." Lucas shakes his head in denial. "That's how Chrissy and Fred were killed. Someone is remotely killing teens, Vecna, and we've figured out how we know who's next." Dustin says.

We all follow Dustin into the counselor's office and he gives Chrissy's and Fred's file to Lucas to read. After a few moments of silence, he looks over at Max. "Max..." he whispers to himself.
