Everyone involved with the incident had to get checked out by the EMT's, and the boys had to be rushed to the ER for surgery. As they were being put into ambulances, you told them that you'd see them in the morning. You noticed that both Iida and Izuku had someone in the ambulance with them but Shoto was alone. You asked if you could ride with him and the EMT's said that his father either had to go or give you permission.
You weren't surprised that Endeavor didn't want to go with his son.
You asked if you could have a couple minutes to get permission, and so you went to talk to Endeavor. You tapped his shoulder and crossed your arms defensively when he turned around.
"I shouldn't be surprised that you're not going to the hospital with Shoto." Endeavor was having one of his sidekicks furiously type out the statement he was going to give to the police, he looked annoyed that someone had the audacity to interrupt him but he simply just raised his eyebrow and smirked when he saw it was you.
"And im surprised to even see you hear, [y/n]" he told his sidekick to get lost so we could talk privately.
"Look, I'm not in a mood to play catch up. I just need your permission to ride with Shoto."
"Fine, I'll give permission, if you'll reconsider my offer." You rolled your eyes.
"I told you years ago, and I'm telling you again, I'm not going back to being a pro. I don't know how many times I have to tell you"
"[y/n], you need to understand that with you by my side, we could be unstoppable"
"Todoroki.." you hugged your arms tighter around yourself and looked to the ambulance where Shoto was. The EMT was talking to him and he was showing them fire in one hand and ice in the other.
"I'm serious, [y/n]-" like the master manipulator that he tried to be, he soften his tone and laid a heavy hand on your shoulder and used the other to tilt your chin towards him. "-I need my Phoenix back"
In the past, this may have convinced you to change your mind. Except you weren't a naive teenager anymore.
"Phoenix is retired. Either give me permission to ride with your son-" you took his hands off of you and activated your quirk. "-or I will make you" Endeavor sighed heavily.
"Very well. I need to wrap things up here. Make sure he's well taken care of. I'll send for him in the morning" he looked over at the EMT and nodded. She went to the front to tell her partner. You began walking away, relieved that the conversation was over.
"Keep training, [y/n]. Phoenix is going to have to come back eventually" you just kept walking and hopped into the ambulance. You put on a smile and talked to the injured boy.
"Hey Shoto, I'm going to ride with you to the hospital"
