Fast forward to the first day of school. You got there early to be able to set up your desk and make your morning post on time. As you greet the students walking in, you notice a little moment between the little green-haired boy and the girl he saved in their practical exam. He was red as a beet as he stood outside his classroom, clearly he doesn't have much practice with girls. Especially pretty ones like her.
"Ah, Ms.[L/N], how are you this morning?" A small voice says from behind you. You turn and see Principal Nezu on one of the transportation devices a student invented for him last year. He was proud of every single one of his students achievements and especially those that make his life a bit easier.
"Principal Nezu! Good morning! I'm doing well!"
"That's good, that's good. I take it you're ready for these next couple weeks. I know it's a bit slow for you now, but with this new class coming in, I'm sure you won't be sitting around for too long" he jokes. As the school counselor, the beginning of the year isn't as hectic as the middle of the year or finals week. Lots of students don't really feel like they need help until they're suddenly overwhelmed with work.
"I hope not. It's really quite irritating dealing with new parents that don't quite understand my tactics"
"That's mostly my department, dear. Don't you worry about them, as long as you stick to the list, I'll take care of the rest." The 'list' as Principal Nezu likes to call it is the approved ways in which you are allowed to use your quirk on students. You have a powerful mind type quirk that allows you to do a number of things to settle rowdy students, most of which are deemed...unsafe to use on innocent children. You dabbled in hero work after college, mostly to pay the bills and land a good job in the police force where you were able to handle interrogations, hostage situations, and other things. Once you've had your fill from getting in deviants minds, you've decided to back down from the job and was able to land your job at UA. It was a little bit of a pay cut, but you made it work.
"Don't you worry, sir. I'll behave myself as long as the students do" you say with a mischievous smile.
"I have full faith in you," he glances at his tiny watch. "Well, it's almost time for morning announcements, I'll be seeing you around, Ms. [L/N]. Happy first day of class!"
"Happy first day of class!" You wave as he wheels away on the the little invention. You hurry the rest of the students off to class and make your way to your office and take a quick coffee break before the day officially starts.
After the morning announcements, you prepared yourself for the day ahead. It mostly consists of teachers calling you to settle their students, with a dabble of returning students setting up counseling appointments throughout the day and for the rest of the year.
"[y/n], you're needed in class 2-C" Yua's voice buzzes through the intercom. You were in the middle of a deep conversation with a student and you didn't want to loose momentum so you ignore the call for now.
"Continue what you were saying, Jun." As he opens his mouth, Yua buzzes in again.
"[y/n], they called you in for a situation in class 2-C." Once again, you ignore the call. Minutes later, Yua pushes the door in.
"Yu- I mean, Ms. Imai! You know better than to barge in during a session!"
"I know, I know. But they really need you down there. One of the student's had a narcoleptic episode and their quirk activated."
"You couldn't get a nurse or Aizawa?"
"There isn't any time..seriously, they need you down there!"
"Fine, make sure Jun has a note back to class, and I want his next session extended since we had this once cut short!" You say as you grab your phone and hurry out.
Once you enter the classroom, you see everyone, including the teacher, huddled in the corner as the student floats in the middle of the classroom, absorbing anything around it.
"Are you all ok?" You yell across the room.
"Yes! But if we move than we'll get pulled in their orbit and get sucked in!" You look and see how the desks and chairs slowly being pulled in by the gravity of the student. Your typical approach would be to put the student asleep in order to stop their quirk, but in this case it looks like you may have to wake the student up to stop their quirk. You activate your quirk and once in their mind, attempt to coax the student awake. You were able to get them conscious, but they couldn't move, your best guess was sleep paralysis.
"Ms. I'm sorry! I can't move!" The student tells you in their mind, eyes wide, full of fear.
"That's ok. But you have to stop using your quirk! You're absorbing everything in the room!" You communicate back. The student manages to lift their hand and give you a thumbs up before deactivating their quirk and falling to the ground. You run over to them and check for injuries.
"Hey there, it's ok. You're ok" the student rubs their head.
"I'm sorry about all this." You ask the teacher if it's ok to get some students to help them to the nurses office. They nod.
"We're just glad you're ok. Even though I am worried about how long that episode took. It normally doesn't last much longer than a couple seconds..and it normally shouldn't have activated your quirk," you stand up and brush off your pants.
"Make sure you get a note from the nurse and ask your parents to get you check out, alright?" You scruff their hair and watch them as they leave the classroom with the help of their classmates. Your turn to the teacher.
"Are you ok?" she looked a little shaken up. She was hugging her sweater around her as a sort of security blanket.
"Um, I think so..I'm just covering for their teacher. I'm just a sub, and the first day of school isn't usually crazy." You chuckle and pat her back.
"Welcome to UA High."
