The beginning (Doctor Strange x daughter OC)

Chapter 4

Stephen's POV
It's been about a year since Lilly was given to me. And today was a pretty horrible day for the both of us. I was driving to the hospital, after dropping Lily off at school. When I got a call from the school saying that she had broken down in tears and was sobbing about her mama, they asked me to come pick her up she was excused for the day.

When I got to the school I walked inside, I was still in my scrubs. Lily was brought to me, her eyes were red,puffy, and still dripping. "What's wrong Lil?" I said as I pulled her into my arms. She wrapped her slender arms around me. I looked with love in my eyes. "I-I get it," she stuttered out. "Understand what" I probed "That Mama is never coming back that-that she's gone. Shes Dead,"she wailed. I sighed. I knew this day would come eventually when she would process it completely.

I picked her up, even though she was starting to get to big for me holding her. She's still my baby girl. I carried her to the car, and set her down for her to climb in and buckle. I got in the drivers side and started the car. "How about we get some ice cream and then you can come with my to work," I looked back and saw her little head nod but no smile in sight. I sighed. This is going to be difficult. We pulled up to the ice cream shop and got our ice creams. Then we loaded back up and headed to the hospital. I had told Christine that I would be late again. She had been annoyed but when I explained why I was going to be late she understood.

When we got there, Christine met us. Lily ran into her arms when she came down to her level. Christine gently rocked her as she cried on her shoulder. Christine had been there as a mother figure for her, ever since Talia died. "Shhhh," she gently shushed her. "Come on Melanie wants to see you," at the mention of Melanie she perked up a bit. "Doctor Strange you have a patient waiting for your briefing on his surgery. I nodded and took the file from her.

Once I finished up with him. I went to check on Lily who was giggling with Melanie and Christine while playing a game of match. She looked up and smiled at me "Hi Dad," I smiled back "Hello Lil," she went back to playing with Melanie while I pulled Christine aside. "Well what about that date? I've already asked Melanie to care for Lily while we are out," she smiled "Why not," I grinned. "I'll pick you up at 6. Sound good?" She nodded "I'll be waiting handsome," i pulled her to me and kissed her softly, until I heard "Ewww!" From a 11 year old girl behind me.We pulled away laughing.

That night I was getting ready while Lily was sitting on my bed. "What are you getting dressed up for Dada?" My curious soon to be tween asked. "I'm going on a date with Christine," I turned around to see her face scrunch up in thought. "Ewww!" I laughed and scooped her up. She was still light as a feather, and she started giggling. I set her back down and straightened my jacket. I heard the door ring. "Who is it?"

"Melanie. Your nurse and babysitter," I laughed softly "Come in," I called. I heard her walk in, and knew it the moment Lily ran out of the room to greet her. I followed her but at a more moderate pace. "Thank you again Melanie," she smiled "Of course. Plus who wouldn't want to spend time with this little gremlin of an angel," she rumpled Lily's hair. Lily was smiling like the Cheshire Cat, with all her teeth showing. I kissed my daughter goodbye, then walked out the door.

I arrived at Christine's house at 6 sharp and she was waiting for me in a beautiful dress. "Hello Gorgeous," she smiled at me as she got in. "Hi handsome," she replied. The car ride was uneventful but very pleasant. We walked arm in arm to the restaurant, and I held the door like a gentleman. "Reservation for Strange please," the hostess nodded and motioned for us to follow her.

"This is pretty fancy. Sure you didn't have to take out another student loan?" I laughed. "Nah. I just sold one of those kidneys that we operated on last week," she laughed. Then she pulled a long, slim, black box out of her purse and set it on the table in front of me. "So, I got you a little something... Congratulations," she smiled. I looked at it. "What is it?" She smiled "Open it and see," I opened the box. Inside was a very nice watch. I turned it over and saw an inscription on it. "Time will tell how much I love you," it read. "Christine, this is... This is amazing. Thank you," I was almost speechless. I smiled at her and she returned it.

The rest of the night was so pleasant. Then I dropped her off back home, and then I headed home. When I got home I found Melanie passed out on the couch with Lily asleep on her chest. I gently tapped Melanie on the shoulder "Hey," she blinked bleary eyed at me. "Thanks. But you can go home, and get some sleep now," I said. So she gently lifted Lily into my arms and nodded while gathering her stuff and heading out the door. I put Lily in bed then got in bed myself after changing. I fell into a deep sound sleep.
