Lily's POV - 1 week later
I heard a knock on my door. When I opened it I found a women. "Lilian Strange?" I nodded "The Ancient One wishes to see you," Hmm wonder why she is summoning me. "Okay will you give me a moment," the women nodded.  I quickly changed into the robes of a new trainee, and pulled my hair back. I came out and followed the women to the ancient one's room. I waited for a few moments then she came in "Hello Lily," I bowed "Hello Ancient One," she smiled at me.

Then my Dad came in "Once, in this room, you begged me to let you learn. Now I'm told you question every lesson, preferring to teach yourself," Dad scoffed. "Once, in this room, you told me to open my eyes. Now I'm being told to blindly accept rules that make no sense," she smiled. "Like the rule against conjuring a gateway in the library?" Dad looked taken aback a bit."Wong told on me?" She shook her head "No Lily did," he glared at me slightly "You're advancing quickly with your sorcery skills. You need a safe space to practice your spells," she threw her hand out causing the space in front of her to splinter like glass. We both followed her into it.

"You are now inside the Mirror Dimension. Ever present but undetected. The real world isn't affected by what happens here. We use the Mirror Dimension to train, surveil, and sometimes to contain threats. You don't want to be stuck in here without your sling ring," she stated. Dad waved a hand in front of another women's face "Hold on. Sorry, what do you mean, threats?" She threw her hand out again making the room expand. "Learning of an infinite multiverse included learning of infinite dangers. And if I told you everything else that you don't already know, you'd run from here in terror," Dad"s eyes widened slightly.

Later we were both training in the courtyard. I was sparing with Mike. Yep my Dad was still glaring Lakers at the dude. I overheard there conversation as we were taking a break. "So, just how ancient is she?" Dad asked Mordo looking at the Ancient One. "No one knows the age of the Sorcerer Supreme. Only that she is Celtic and never talks about her past," Dad tilted his head slightly "You follow her even though you don't know?" Mordo looked at him. "I know that she's steadfast, but unpredictable. Merciless, yet kind. She made me what I am. Trust your teacher. And don't lose your way," Dad raised an eyebrow.. "Like Kaecilius?" Mordo nodded "That's right,"

"You knew him," Mordo nodded "When he first came to us, he'd lost everyone he ever loved. He was a grieving and broken man, searching for answers in the mystic arts. A brilliant student, but he was proud, headstrong. Questioned the Ancient One, rejected our teaching. He left Kamar-Taj. His disciples followed him like sheep, seduced by false doctrine," Dad adjusted his sparing robes "He stole the forbidden ritual, right?" He probed some more "Yeah," Dad looked at Mordo again "What did it do?"

"No more questions," Mordo pulled out a staff "What's that?" He held it up for him to see "That's a question," he smiled "This is a relic. Some magic is too powerful to sustain, so we imbue objects with it, allowing them to take the strain we can not. This is the Staff of the Living Tribunal. There are many relics: the Wand of Watoomb, the Bolting Boots of Voltor," he clicked he foot against his les "They just roll of the tongue, don't they? When do I get my relic?"

I stopped listening as we were about to spar again. Unlike my Dad I had been open minded enough to advance much more quickly. I had his gift for the Mystic Arts as well. I was already an intermediate beginner student even though I only started a week ago. I quickly swept Mich to the ground and grinned at him. "Oi man. You pack a punch," I helped him up while laughing. "Well my Mom wasn't a black belt in two different types of martial arts for nothing," he laughed.

Later that night I was awakened by Mordo knocking on my door. "Master Mordo. What can I do for you?" I asked rubbing sleep out of my eyes "Have you seen your father?" I shook my head "I've been asleep since 6," he nodded "Follow me. We are finding him," I nodded and followed him brushing my bed head behind my ears. I followed him to the library where Wong was waiting. Dad was eating an apple while reading an ancient book. I looked over to the stand that held the eye and didn't see it.

"Stop!!!" Dad's head bobbed up quickly. "What are you doing?" I asked Dad softly. "Tampering with the continuum of probability is forbidden!" Wong almost shouted "I... I wa... I was just doing exactly what it said in the book!" Mordo glared at him. "And what did the book say about the dangers of performing that ritual?" Dad shrugged "Yeah, I don't know. I hadn't gotten to that part yet.," Mordo started to chew him out. "Temporal manipulations can create branches in time. Unstable dimensional openings. Spacious paradoxes! Time loops!!! You want to get stuck reliving the same moment over, and over, forever, or never having existed at all" Mordo reasoned but rather loudly. "They really should put the warnings before that stuff," Dad mumbled. "Your curiosity could have gotten you killed," Wong reasoned "You weren't manipulating the space-time continuum, you were wrecking it," Wong grabbed the book in front of him shutting it and putting it back in its place "We do not tamper with natural law. We defend it,"

Mordo pointed at Dad? "How did you learn to do that? Where did you learn the litany of spells required to even understand it?" Dad shrugged. "I've got a photographic memory. It's how I got my M.D. and Ph.D. at the same time," Mordo shook his head "What you just did takes more than a good memory. You were born for the mystic arts," Dad sighed and glared at his hands? "And yet, my hands still shake," Wong nodded. "For now, yes," Dad perked up and hope was in his voice "Not forever?" Mordo shrugged ."We're not prophets," I opened my mouth. "Then what are we?" While Dad asked "When do you start telling me what we are?"

Wong walked toward the eye's stand and slowly twisted the plate. The orb above it started glowing "While heroes like the Avengers protect the world from physical dangers, we sorcerers safeguard it against more mystical threats. The Ancient One is the latest in a long line of Sorcerers Supreme, going back thousands of years. to the father of the mystic arts, the mighty Agamotto. The same sorcerer who created the eye you so recklessly borrowed. Agamotto built 3 Sanctums in places of power, where great cities now stand,"he pointed to the doors around the room. Naming which sanctum they led to."That door leads to the Hong Kong Sanctum, that door to the New York Sanctum. That one, to the London Sanctum. Together, the Sanctums generate a protective shield around our world," Mordo also explained. "The Sanctums protect the world, and we sorcerers protect the Sanctums,"

"From what?" I walked over to Dad who put an arm around me. While I wrapped my arms around his waist? "Other-dimensional beings that threaten our universe," Wong explained. "Like Dormammu?" Wong looked at Dad. "Where did you learn that name?"Mordo asked Dad shifted his for us from Wong to Mordo. "I just read it in The Book of Cagliostro. Why?" Wong moved the plate again. The orb above it turned dark."Dormammu dwells in the Dark Dimension, beyond time.He is the cosmic conquerer, the destroyer of worlds.A being of infinite power and endless hunger, on a quest to invade every universe and bring all worlds into his Dark Dimension. And he hungers for Earth most of all,"

"The pages that Kaecilius stole," Wong nodded "A ritual to contact Dormammu and draw power from the Dark Dimension," Dad was in disbelief "Uuuh... okay. Okay. I... time-out. I... I came here to heal my hands, not to fight in some mystical war," I looked at my Dad "Well I came here to find you and I found something I'm good at and enjoy. So why not fight and protect this world. You will still be saving lives just in a different way," we all looked up when we heard a bell tolling."London," whispers Wong. The door to the London Sanctum opened and a man ran towards it but was killed and fell through. Then the same man I saw in my dream appeared  "Kaecilius!" Kaecilius there a mandel into the room. "No!!!" I heard Mordo yell Before we were all thrown back.
