○Chapter 6: In Heat, Mating Time

"Jace?" Pearl sat up rubbing her eyes.

He was sleeping peacefully. But why on the couch? She stood and shook him gently. He stirs a bit. She held the blanket tightly around herself. Jace must've had taken her to bed. That is what she remembers. She shook him again. He opened his eyes.

"Come to bed," she helped him up. He stumbles a bit. Before he laid down, she helped him take his shirt off, and pants. He always sleeps in his boxer. From now on they will be sharing the same bed. He flopped down.

She cuddles up to him Jace lower down. Wrapping his arms around her resting his head on her chest. He soundly slept. She loves when he holds her.

"We so totally take advantage of him," Sal said.

"Sal!" Pearl gasped."That's not appropriate!"

"But why?" Sal asked."He's so hot and, gosh, his abs! I want to eat him up!"

"Sal, so wrong," Pearl said."Stop it okay."

"But Pearl, we haven't mated!" Sal said."You two have. But our wolf hasn't. And all because he doesn't want us to get pregnant. And I am in heat, here, and soon you'll be in heat as well. And he'll be forced to takes us!"

"Sal," she sighed.

It's true; their wolves haven't mated cause they can't protect themselves. Pearl could get pregnant that way. Sighing, she ran her hands through his soft hair. He smells like shampoo.

"Your a chicken," Sal said."You never want to do anything rebellious."

"Because I'm not like that," Pearl said."I'm a good kid."

"Be a bad kid!" Sal said."Come on."

"No," Pearl said."Being bad won't accomplish anything."

"Fine," Sal said.

Jace stir. He looks like a child when he's sleeping one that seems lost. Pearl has never seen him like this before. He always had a frown. Now he looks innocent and defenseless.

Does having his friends or family here make him happy? Because of this the first time she has seen him this defenseless. Pearl likes this side of him. She cuddles up to him. Falling asleep, for tomorrow will be another great day. At least that's what she thought.

Waking up to sickness isn't how she wanted to start her morning. And now that she notices, her body felt extremely hot. She felt faint and weak.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Jace came behind me. "You're burning up." He helped her up. "Take a shower." He turned the water on. Pearl didn't like how warm it was and turned only the cold water. Jace helped her in. It felt nice, felt her temperature go down. Her body was relaxing. "Strange your body temperature is back to normal."

"Hm, ah," she was glad she didn't feel hot anymore. It was unbearable. She stepped out and got dressed.

But a few hours later while she was helping Eleanor make some snacks for the twins. She felt her body temperature rise again. She had to ignore it, smiling as best as she could.

"Ouch," Celeste held her hand. "Mommy, why is her hand so hot like a stove?"

"What?" Eleanor frowned and touched her forehead and pulling her hand back immediately. "Goodness, you're in heat!"
