Pearl looked around. She was getting bored. What can she do? Everyone left to go in search of Jace. Even Ellie has gone with them. She had sent her daughter back with Zach's mother. Pearl sat up and looked around her room. She'll go too. She'll find Jace on my own.
'You'll risk our child life,' Sal said. 'And weren't you just thinking about how you will wait and be patient?'
"I know,' Pearl sighed. 'It's risky, but I want our child to meet their father,' Pearl said. 'What if he gets killed.'
'Don't say that,' Sal said. 'Alright let's go then. I give in since I know how stubborn you are. But promise me you will listen to me?'
'Okay,' Pearl said. 'I will listen to you.'
So Pearl packed a backpack with things she needed. Flashlight, food, some clothes, and other things. Once she had them, she had to sneak past her father's men. The ones he asks to watch her and not let her out. It wasn't easy; she had to be very careful. It was great that they had a basement. That was one place they didn't check. So here she was walking in the middle of the woods. She wasn't sure where she was going to. She tried sniffing Jace out. But his scent was faint. Pearl sighed and just kept following it. Maybe it will get stronger.
'Keep your guard up,' Sal said.
'I will,' Pearl said.
Jace, don't worry, soon they will together. And she'll help him control his new gift. She smiled. Pearl kept walking. She walked for hours; the sun had gone down. Pearl had to stop. But she never let her guard down. Kayla and her minions are out there looking for Jace as well. But she is sure she will get to him. First, she hopes so. Pearl can't fall asleep, can't let her guard down. She must stay awake.
'Your body needs sleep,' Sal said.
'I can't,' Pearl said. 'If I fall asleep someone could easily get to us.'
'Alright,' Sal sighed.
She felt sleepy. Her eyes and body were giving out. She only closed her eyes for a split second. At least that's what she thought. When she woke up, it was morning. She sat up startled.
'Relax I stayed up,' Sal said. 'Anyways we should get going.'
Pearl gather up her things and once again they were on their way. Sal took over after a few hours. She ran, which was much faster, holding her backpack with her teeth. After a while, she stopped. Not sure why.
'What's wrong?' Pearl asked.
'Not sure,' she said.
She lowered down hiding behind some bushes. She was on alert now. Ready to attack anyone who she felt is a threat. Pearl just tried not to shift. It would be bad.
'No,' Sal said. 'It's them, Kayla.'
It wasn't good. Sal backed away as she did, they bump into someone. She looked back, and they were blast with silver. Sal whimper as Pearl screamed on the inside.
"I can't believe it!" A girl said. "Jace mate! Pearl! It must be my lucky day!"
"Kayla, what should we do?" A man asked.
They couldn't see, the silver blinded them. They could only hear. It was terrible.
"Let's take her, first make her shift back," Sal fought to stay in wolf form. But it was useless. Pearl was back to human. The man grabbed her. He covers her mouth. It was making her sleepy.
