What a surprise Scott took when he walked to Aldric's home and found a dog laying on the doorsteps. Well, he had assumed it was a dog. But it wasn't. It was a wolf. It spoke to him. Said her name was Sal, and that she can't shift back, ever. Something about her soul going into a regular wolf and not being able to change. Because Scott knows for sure, Pearl isn't alive. He saw her body at the morgue, and Jim took her body home which was strange.
And when Scott told Jace about Sal, he just cried. He was hoping it wasn't the truth that none of what happened was real, and that Pearl had survived. But it's all true.
'How did he took the news?' Sal asked.
Scott sat in the backyard steps. Sal laid next to him.
"Not so good," Scott said. "He doesn't want to do anything with you. Nor does he want to see Pearl's body."
'I thought I was going to leave, go somewhere else,' Sal said. 'Never knew I would be placed into a wolf's body.'
"Well, everything over," he said. "Jace is going back home with his parents. It's like the old Jace suddenly came back."
'Pearl wanted to see that side of him,' Sal said. 'But I know she is. I miss her.'
"I can tell," he sighed. "But know Pearl with you. And she's watching you from above."
'I know,' she sighed.
"His taking Natalia with him," Scott said. "The little girl, he has been taking care, and I heard Aldric and Suda are mates. Aldric will be moving over with Jim, Pearl father. There he'll be Alpha temporarily. Since Jim will retire, he can't bare be in Alpha anymore."
'I see,' Sal whimper. 'I wished I could've had done more to protect Pearl.'
"You did your best," Scott said. "It should be enough."
'Yes,' she sighed.
When Jace left, he felt as if something was about to happen. Not bad, but good. He would've had gone with them. But Scott stayed, for Sal. She's a big wolf; he had to keep her hidden. And it was hard to move her away from the house when Aldric moved. But now being around wolf territory. She was free to roam around. Jim had expanded the province, and claim more land. This land had a cabin. The same cottage where Jace had stayed in now he remains thereafter he fixed it up.
The days went by. Everything seems peaceful. But then Sal got sick. She wouldn't eat, and wouldn't go anywhere, and slept all day. He couldn't take her to the pack doctor, because Sal didn't want to. She said if it's her time then to let her die. But it wasn't her time, and he was not about to let her die.
Like he said before, about this feeling he had. That something good was about to happen. Well, it did. Someone knocked on his door. Opening it, he saw Jim.
"I been trying to contact you," he said coming in. "I have been trying to contact Jace as well."
"Is there something you need?" Scott asked.
"It's complicated," he sighed. "Sal looks ill."
"She is," Scott said petting Sal. "But she's stubborn. She doesn't want to get checked, and I can't force her to."
"I see," Jim sat down. "Have you heard anything from Jace?"
"No," Scott said. "He hasn't contacted me. I have spoken to his parents. They said he's doing fine, but I don't know. I think his worse, but they don't want to tell me."
