happy 3k reads :D tysm everyone <3'So, what do you think?' Minji asked the younger girl. 'Oh right, you can open your eyes now.'
Yoohyeon had closed her eyes, per Minji request, as they neared their destination. And Yoohyeon hadn't hesitated long before following her instructions. This was progress. Slow, but it was steady.
Minji was determined to make the younger girl see that trusting her was worth it.
'Wow,' Yoohyeon breathed. 'It's so... quiet here.'
Minji had brought her to a small shaded area at the back of the park that was hidden by a cluster of trees, and although Yoohyeon went to the park a lot, she had never known about this place before.
'Do you like it?' Minji asked cautiously, worried that she had chosen the wrong place. But Yoohyeon turned to her with a smile on her face and nodded. 'Yes. I like it.'
(this is random but does anyone remember that one moment when jiu asked, 'kim yoohyeon, do you like it?' referring to something they just had and yoohyeon was like, 'i like it, i like minji.'? pretty gay if u ask me 👀)
'I found this place a few years back. I don't think anyone else knows about it, so I made it my own.' Minji explained, walking towards the trees. 'I come here when I want to clear my mind, or just to simply enjoy the silence.' She stopped once she realised that the younger girl wasn't following her. 'What's wrong?'
Staying where she was, Yoohyeon shook her head firmly. 'This is your place. I shouldn't... I can't...'
'Yes, this is my place. And I'm making it yours as well.' Minji said with a smile, and pulled the other girl towards herself. 'Come on, help me unpack.'
10 minutes later, they were all settled down, propped up against some pillows Minji had specifically brought for today. They sat there in silence for a while, not wanting to be the first to ruin the peaceful atmosphere, until Minji suddenly asked, 'Yoohyeon, do you like cherries?'
'Cherries?'
'Yeah! I really like them so I brought a lot, but I really should have checked with you first...' Minji showed the younger girl a plastic bag filled to the brim with cherries. 'I got these from the cafe, so my parents are going to get mad at me if I let any of them go to waste. But I probably took too much.' She said, looking down at the bag of cherries sadly. She looked and sounded so genuinely worried that Yoohyeon wasn't sure whether she should laugh at her cuteness or not.
'Don't worry, I like cherries.' Yoohyeon quickly told her, and Minji's face lit up with a smile. 'Really? Here, have one.' She held a cherry by its stem and dangled it in front of the younger girl's face, who gratefully accepted it. Then she surprised both Minji and herself by feeding the older girl a cherry in the exact same way. 'Why, thank you. How kind of you.' Minji giggled, biting onto the cherry.
Conversation between the two flowed naturally, and although Minji did most of the talking, it wasn't with the usual aggressiveness and cockiness others always had so Yoohyeon didn't mind. She preferred listening over talking, anyway. And Minji knew that, so she never pushed her to talk about herself. But when she did talk, Minji gave her all her attention, taking in every single word as if she was the most important person in the universe.
At one point, Yoohyeon had let herself rest her head on Minji's shoulder, at which the older girl happily complied to, immediately adjusting her position so that they were more comfortable.
And Yoohyeon was. She was comfortable. So she closed her eyes and let herself relax.
Maybe trusting wasn't that hard after all.
