ayo we're at 10k?!?
honestly how tf 😭😭😭 tysmMinji spent the rest of the morning on her laptop reading through countless articles and forums, trying to make sense of what she was feeling. Maybe her feelings for Yoohyeon weren't as simple as she had initially thought. Maybe she wasn't just experiencing a passing infatuation. Maybe she really was attracted to girls, and Yoohyeon just... happened to be the first person she had ever felt that way about.
The more she thought about it, the more it made sense. How she hadn't hesitated tearing that dogshit of a boy apart at that party. How she had turned down every single dude who had tried to hit on her in high school, how she had always felt a little out of place around them. But with Yoohyeon, she felt like she could just be herself. She didn't have to pretend. And the thought of being with her, of holding her and kissing her, made her heart race in a way that she had never experienced before.
She hastily slammed her laptop shut once she heard footsteps approaching her room. 'Minji, you're home!' Her mother exclaimed, standing in the doorway. 'You were out all night, and you weren't picking up any calls.'
'I'm sorry,' Minji apologised, bowing her head slightly. 'My phone was off.'
'Where were you, Minji?' Her mother asked, sitting down next to her. Minji eyed her laptop nervously, watching as it bounced slightly on the bed. 'I hope you were being careful. It's dangerous for a girl to be out alone, especially at night.' She moved Minji's laptop out of the way as she spoke, noticing how her daughter seemed to tense up at the sight of it. Minji wasn't good at hiding her emotions, and the way she was continuously sneaking glances at the device completely gave her away. Suspicions arose, but she decided not to put too much thought into it.
'I was with a friend,' Minji replied. 'Yoohyeon.' She added, gulping.
'You've been mentioning her name a lot lately,' her mother observed. 'Are you two close?'
Minji hesitated. 'I guess.'
'It's good to see that you're finally making some new friends. Minsoo is a nice girl, but you can't rely on her forever,' her mother ran a hand through her hair. 'Just make sure you don't let her distract you too much. You know how your father feels about distractions.'
'Don't worry about me, mom,' Minji said wearily. I'll take care of myself. I know what's right.'
Her mother seemed satisfied with her answer, or maybe she just wanted to keep the illusion of her perfect daughter. 'That's my girl. Now get a move on, it's cleaning day,' she reminded her. 'Your father and I are going to your uncle's for breakfast. I expect the cafe to be spotless when we get back.'
Just as Minji opened her mouth to reply, a door slammed downstairs. 'Looks like you've got guests,' her mother stood up, giving her shoulder a gentle squeeze. 'We'll be heading out now. Don't let us down.'
The door closed behind her, and Minji finally felt like she could breathe again. That was a close call. She grabbed her laptop and tucked it behind her bookcase, hoping that her mother wouldn't come looking for it. Her mother had a sharp eye, and Minji was pretty sure she had picked up on her behaviour. She just didn't say anything.
She treaded downstairs, surprised to find her cousin and friends seated at a booth. 'Handong? Yubin?' She asked, bewildered. 'Gahyeon? What are you guys doing here?'
'Staying out of your dad's way,' Gahyeon gave her a sheepish grin. That made sense, since Minji knew how her father felt about Gahyeon. 'Your parents are going to my house.'
'Plus, it's cleaning day,' Yubin said, rolling up her sleeves. 'We're here to help.'
'You guys don't have to-'
