Breathing heavily, Minji leaned against the side of her car. 'You run really fast,' she said, gasping for air.

'Yeah, I run a lot. For... for school.' Yoohyeon lied, avoiding Minji's gaze. Part of it was true- She did run a lot at school. But she couldn't say 'I run a lot for other people since their lazy asses doesn't want to go to detention so they make me go in their place' either, as it would require her to tell Minji the whole story. And she wasn't ready for that. Not yet.

'Ah.' Minji could see that Yoohyeon was deliberately trying to avoid the topic, but since she seemed visibly uncomfortable talking about it, Minji decided not to dwell on it any further. She got into the driver's seat and watched as Yoohyeon got in the back. 'Hey, don't sit there. Sit next to me.' She patted the seat next to her.

'You sure?' Yoohyeon asked, to which Minji nodded. 'Okay.' The younger girl shrugged and sat down as told.

As Minji started driving, Yoohyeon was back to her quiet self once again, staring at her hands and not saying a word. 'Do you mind if I put some music on?' Minji asked as they waited for the light to turn green. Yoohyeon shook her head, signaling that she didn't mind. Minji used her free hand, the one she wasn't steering with, to hand over her phone. 'You can pick whatever song you want on here,' she told her. When the other girl hesitated, Minji reassured her, 'Go on, play your favorite song. I trust your taste.'

Yoohyeon nodded and took the phone. There were a few moments of silence as Yoohyeon's fingers danced across the screen, and then a soft melody started playing. It was 'Breathe' by LeeHi. Yoohyeon surprised her by singing along, her voice quiet yet steady.

'It's alright if you run out of breath
No one will blame you
It's okay to make mistakes sometimes
Because anyone can do so.'

Then the chorus came on, and Yoohyeon's voice grew louder, her eyes closing as she did so.

'Someone's breath, that heavy breath
How can I see through that?
Though I can't understand your breath
It's alright, I'll hold you.'

Minji sat there, stunned, nearly forgetting to drive when the light turned green. She could tell that Yoohyeon was pouring her heart and soul into the song, as if she was telling a story. Every note was filled with so much raw emotion and power.

'It's alright, I'll hold you
You really did a good job.'

The song slowly came to an end, and Yoohyeon nervously opened her eyes. 'I'm sorry, I shouldn't have-'

'Hey, you have an amazing voice.' Minji commented, meaning to compliment her, but the younger girl just shook her head and looked away. 'No, I'm serious. Your voice is beautiful.'

'But I rarely sing.'

'Then I hope you'll sing for me more in the future. Really, I can listen to your voice all day.'

The other girl remained silent, but Minji could see a small smile forming on her face. That was enough.

She turned her attention back to the road and smiled to herself. She couldn't wait to show Yoohyeon what she had planned for the day.
