Lan Wangji woke up before Wei Wuxian. He woke to a knock at the door. He gently settled Wei Wuxian comfortably on the bed and covered him with the blanket before answering it. Lan Xichen and Baoshan were standing there patiently waiting for them.
"Wei Ying is asleep," Lan Wangji said moving aside to let them in the room.
"Wangji, I want you to know I never blamed A'Xian, not once. You know I worried for him just like you did. Maybe not to the extent you were worried, but since you trusted him, I trusted you both. I never once questioned him. When everything happened back then, I wanted to know what happened just like everyone else. But a lot of people were blinded by Jin Guangshan and Jin Guangyao back then that we never once considered speaking to him. And I'm sorry I upset either of you," Lan Xichen said.
"I know," Lan Wangji said sitting beside Wuxian on the bed, "Wei Ying is just extra sensitive, especially now that he is pregnant. So much happened back then it was hard to persuade anyone. I knew when Wen Ning killed Jin Zixuan and Jin Zixun, something was wrong. I know Wei Ying enough to know something happened beyond his control. I just didn't get to him in time."
"He tried to reason with us at Nightless City. I listened to what he was saying but everyone was just so blinded by the sudden death and chaos," Lan Xichen explained, "I never once suspected A'Xian to curse Zixun. He doesn't resort to such things as a curse to kill someone. And like he said, Jin Zixun was someone he thought little of, so why kill him then instead of earlier. It made no sense."
"No, it didn't," Lan Wangji said.
"May I?" Baoshan asked teaching for Wuxian's wrist.
"Mnn," Lan Wangji nodded.
They sat there silently as they let Baoshan check Wei Wuxian's vitals, his Qi, and the baby. She gently placed her hand on Wei Wuxian's lower abdomen to feel around. As before, it will only take four months before the baby arrives, so Wei Wuxian was already gaining a bump.
"He has a baby bump already," Baoshan said with a smile, "they both are alright. Sleeping helped calm him down. I know it's hard but the memories are almost over. We have to keep him fairly calm if at all possible. The Jiang's, I know are not helping much."
"Jiang Wanyin managed to calm down a fair amount, but Yu Ziyuan, I don't think she will ever understand," Lan Wangji stated.
"I will deal with her in a bit," Baoshan told him, "I just want you to try and keep Wei Ying from getting too overwhelmed. Can you do that?"
"It hasn't been easy but I will try my best. It took me a good while to calm him down enough to get him to sleep it off," Lan Wangji stated.
"I think we need to figure something out to keep him calm," Baoshan said.
"Well, Wangji seems to be the only thing that keeps him calm enough...it may take some time but he's the only one to calm him down...maybe his mother could also try. Though it's been a long time since he has been giving a mother's affection," Lan Xichen suggested.
"I can do what I can," Wangji said, "I suppose talking to Cangse could do as well."
"Mmmm," Wei Wuxian moaned, "why is everyone so loud," Wei Wuxian mumbled rolled to his back opening his eyes.
"Sorry, Wei Ying," Lan Wangji told him, "didn't mean to wake you."
"Sure," Wei Wuxian teased, "this is why I want you to teach me this silence charm of yours."
"When this is all over I will, knowing you, you would abuse it," Lan Wangji told him.
"Lame," Wei Wuxian mumbled as he sat up.
