Sizhui and Jingyi ran over to where others were waiting. Wei Wuxian was in labor, Baoshan is with him in the room to help him deliver, and she allowed Lan Wangji to be there.
"I didn't finish writing but I hope it's okay for the moment," Jingyi said to Lan Xichen.
"Yes it is fine. How far did you give?" Lan Xichen asked.
"I just finished my third of the five times," Lan Jingyi answered.
"I'll say that's enough. As long as you help your parents when you can and not to lash out like you did again. Wei Wuxian has been through a lot, it would be nice if you can learn to forgive him and move forward," Lan Xichen said.
"I promise," Jingyi said, "Sizhui and I just got Baba back, and I would feel bad if something happened. Plus with a new sibling, it would be nice to be family. It's something that we all have wanted for a long time."
"That's good," Lan Xichen said.
After a couple minutes of conversing, they could hear Wei Wuxian screaming from the other side of the door, "it's so unfortunate that he has to bare the pain of delivering," Sizhui said.
"But he had the joy of creating it," Jingyi mumbled.
Lan Xichen chuckled, "yes it is nice in the moment, and what comes from the pain of birth is a little bundle of joy. So in a way, there is happiness and pain, but there is love in all of it. It's usually worth it all," he explained.
"As much as I would love the joys of picking the name, I think it's a girl," Jingyi said.
Before Sizhui could say anything, Baoshan came out of the room saying the delivery went well and as long as they don't overcrowd, they could all enter. Sizhui smiled and entered the room. Lan Wangji was sitting beside Wei Wuxian on the bed as the little infant was bundled in a blanket in Wei Wuxian's arms.
"Before we reveal the gender, I feel like it's fair for you both to share the names you picked out," Lan Wangji said calmly.
"What name did you pick?" Jingyi asked Sizhui.
"You can go first," Sizhui told Jingyi.
"Since I was to pick the name for a boy, Lan Huizhong (hu-way-chong) which means wise and loyal," Jingyi told him.
"I like that, how did you think of that?" Lan Wangji asked.
"Since Baba told us about the pregnancy, I wanted to think of something that represents both parents. They other are smart and wise in their own way, and they are both loyal to each other and to family. I thought the child's name could have an idea what our family is and what they will be apart of. How they will feel welcome and loved and free to be themself," Jingyi explained.
"I like it," Lan Xichen and Lan Sizhui agreed.
"So, Sizhui what did you pick?" Jingyi asked.
"I did a little bit of thinking, and I thought of Lan Caihong, which means colorful or rainbow," Sizhui explained, "I thought, with a Baba like Wei Wuxian and an A-Die like Lan Wangji...a person who has a bubbly personality and a person who is Hanguang Jun. I thought a name might fit. Also, in Chinese culture, the rainbow symbolizes yin and yang, balance, and universal harmony."
Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian looked at each other, "well," Wei Wuxian said, "they are both wonderful names and what is picked I hope the other is understandable."
"Of course," Jingyi said, "and I'm sorry I snapped at you. I shouldn't have done that. I know you did what you felt was the right thing."
"You Lan clan members are so stubborn," Wei Wuxian said.
"Well, when you renew your vows, aren't you changing from Wei to Lan?" Sizhui asked.
"I am," Wei Wuxian said, "and to answer the questions, what is the gender? What is the name?"
"It's a girl," Lan Wangji said, "so her name will be, Lan Caihong."
"It's fitting," Lan Xichen said, "it's been a while since a girl came into the sect. Although, it is up to you two on where you want to raise her."
"We will go back and forth. Even time here on the mountain so my parents and grandmother can see her and the boys, and then the other at Cloud Recesses. Lan Zhan isn't chief cultivator anymore. We have more time to plan things out," Wei Wuxian explained.
"Mnn," Lan Wangji turned to Wei Wuxian, "you should rest."
Wei Wuxian nodded and handed the baby to Lan Wangji. Wei Wuxian laid down for a while as the others had the chance to meet the new member of the family.
***
After about six months, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji renewed their vows as they said they would. It gave those a chance to see a wedding that didn't get to see one before. Of course, with the Lan Sect and Wei Wuxian's family, it was an extravagant wedding event. It was also the first time Lan Qiren and the other Lan Sect members to see Lan Caihong for the first time.
Lan Caihong was a bit different from how Jingyi and Sizhui were. She was a lot more vocal, almost like her Baba. Lan Wangji was all for it. He has three amazing children all with different personalities and a husband that he loves so dearly.
After the world has come to know the truth about Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji's story, they had a lot of broken pieces to pick up. Wei Wuxian, now known as Lan Ying or Lan Wuxian, was just glad that he was happy again. He could smile and be at ease again. He and Lan Wangji decided to live up on the mountain with Baoshan and Wuxian's parents. They would visit Gusu when they wanted but the two felt the mountain was a place for Lan Caihong to grow freely and without the rules of Cloud Recesses.
Lan Sizhui was in Cloud Recesses more often as he was learning the ways of being a sect leader along side Lan Xichen. Lan Jingyi was also in Cloud Recesses every other month just to keep up on other sects and news of other things within the cultivation world. Jingyi would inform Wangji and Wuxian about it all as well.
It was late at night, Lan Wangji had just put Lan Caihong to bed and returned to his bedroom where he saw Wuxian lounging on the bed twirling his Chenqing.
"I see you have returned to twirling your flute," Lan Wangji told him as he laid down by Lan Wuxian.
"It's my favorite pastime," Wuxian responded, "well, one of my favorites."
"The other favorite?" Lan Wangji asked.
"Cuddling with you," Wuxian told him, "...I don't know if I ever thanked you properly."
"You know saying thank you and I'm sorry isn't necessary with us," Wangji reminded, "but why thank me?"
"For being there for me when no one else was," Wuxian told him, "for not giving up on me. I've shut myself up more then once and you still stayed with me. You were always there, even if I was too oblivious to even notice back then."
Lan Wangji saw tears forming in Wuxian's eyes. He pulled Wuxian close to him, "and I'd do it all over again if I had to. Maybe be a bit more open and verbal about my feelings for you a lot sooner."
Wuxian chuckled and planted a kiss on his lips, "would you chose me in your next life?"
"I would, and the one after that, and after that one I would too," Lan Wangji answered, "I will always choose you. I will forever love you."
Lan Wuxian smiled at him as he kissed Lan Wangji again. It didn't take long for the two of them to throw their robes to the side and have their way with each other.
With everything that has happened, Wei Wuxian was finally happy and living the way he always wanted. Lan Wangji was free from his sect's rules and lived freely with his husband, daughter, and two sons. All having their own paths to take now, Lan Wangji and Wuxian, chose to take the path together.
