It was once again the weekend, after a long week of flight training. Since Ashley had gotten out of the medical centre and recovered, she hadn't seen much of Iceman, especially since seeing him at the bar, following her volleyball celebratory against Hollywood.
Ashley had some free time that Saturday afternoon and decided to head down to the beach where the boys were. She pulled her truck into a parking space and climbed out
"Hey, Ash!" Slider exclaimed, as he saw the girl step up onto the bleachers
"Hey" Ashley spoke back
"Ash, Ash, Ash... be my teammate again" Goose asked, running over to the bleachers
"Sorry, Goose. I'm gonna sit this one out" Ashley apologised
"Worth a shot. Mav, you're up instead and no ifs or buts about it" Goose demanded, dragging his best friend up to the court. They played several rounds and Goose and Maverick were tied with Slider and Iceman
"Hey, Goose! I'm gonna head off. I'll see you later" Ashley spoke, standing up and heading off
"Okay" Goose spoke
Ashley jumped into her truck and drove off. She headed over to the pier and walked along it. She stopped and lent against the railings as she listened to the waves crash against the shore. For the first time in a long time, she was starting to feel at home
"Ashley" A voice spoke from behind her. She turned around to see Tom.
"What are you doing here?" Ashley asked, "You've avoided me the last few weeks since I got out of hospital. I want to know why"
"Because, Ashley... I'm falling in love with you. That's why I've avoided you" Tom explained
"But... you're the Iceman. I've always thought you were the type of person to not date..."
"...maybe I was before I met you." Tom spoke, stepping forward towards her, "I want to be with you, Ashley.. If you'll have me"
"I do too" She smiled. She moved towards him and embraced him in a hug and kissing him.
The next day, Maverick and Goose were out doing another training hop against Jester after everyone else. They stood in the locker room as they got changed out of their flying overalls
