William's POV

Getting up from Riley's bed I sneak out of her room. After her nightmare, she asked me to stay with her and she was able to fall back asleep. Going to my room I get ready for my day.

I leave my room in the similar suit that I wear every day. I go downstairs while the sun is rising, I turn on the coffee maker and grab a coffee cup. I pour my cup and sit down drinking it and looking over the emails that are already pouring into my inbox.

Scrolling through my phone I hear someone enter the kitchen and briefly look up I see Riley in her uniform grabbing a bowl of cereal avoiding my gaze. She sits down at the counter, eating her cereal.

"Riley you don't have to go to school today if you don't feel up to it."

"I'm fine." She tells me shortly cutting off our conversation. Oliver comes in a few minutes later and grabs himself a cup of coffee and kisses her on the forehead.

"Did you sleep well last night?"

"Yeah." She looks over at me in a way telling me to keep quiet. I've never been bossed around so much by one of my children before. Even when they were little, they commanded the house but if you picked them up they would instantly shut up but know that they are so much older that is pretty hard to do.

The rest of the family comes down periodically and eats their breakfast. When we finished they all went off to school. Normally Oliver, Jess, and I all drive in the same car to work but today Jess is going to a different location to work on some tech stuff that is acting up.

Oliver and I get in the car and head to our main building. We go to the top floor and head to our separate, neighboring offices.

Going into mine I manage to sit down before my assistant comes with a pile of papers and her tablet that holds my calendar. She sets down the papers on my desk.

"Mr. Bertinelli, these need your signature. These one need your approval and then signature. The finance department sent up the reports for your meeting this afternoon. For meetings, Mr. Costello is at 10:00, the finance department is at 1:00, and then at 3:00, you have an off-site meeting with the contractor for the new casino." She tells me my schedule before leaving my office with her tablet.

I grab the first stack of papers that need my signature. These have all been looked through by my legal team for any clauses that don't fit my needs or can hurt my company. I sign them until my assistant calls me for the first meeting today.

Sitting through the boring meeting I tell the man that I will think about his offer. Yeah right, why would I take an offer that barely benefits me in any way? Going to my office I continue to go through the pile of papers that never seem to shrink.

After my meeting with the contractor, I came back to the office to finish the pile of paperwork. With my desk cleared of work I get up and check to see if Oliver is still here. He is.

"Hey, Oliver you ready to go?" He nods and grabs his stuff we head down to the garage and get back in my car.

When I taught my kids how to drive I thought I would never have to drive them around again. I was wrong. One might think that after a long day of work I would get to go home and relax and be with my family but no I have to go to a warehouse and deal with an idiot who thinks it's okay to try and steal from me.

Pulling in me and Oliver put on emotionless expressions. I know how cliche but it's the only way to get respect around here is to have a reason for people to fear you. We walk inside side by side, we head to the back where our cells are.

One of our newer men leads us to the man we want to talk to. We pass by a few different people on our way who all nod in respect. Now before anyone gets all feminist on me we do have women in our mafia. Most of them are just at home, as well as most of them are on-call members. Ones that we will call when we need their help a lot are seductresses for us so they aren't needed all the time.

Stopping in front of the door the young man opens the door, nods, and walks back down the hall. I walk in first to see a bloodied man chained to the chair. I walk in and take off my suit jacket resting it on a steel table and roll up my sleeves. Showing off my mafia tattoo declaring me as current don.

It's a skull with fire surrounding it and then mine has a banner with the year I took over a don and then when I retire I'll put that year. Oliver has the sam tattoo only with no year yet. Everyone else's tattoos have a certain personal change that explains what they do in the mafia but they don't have dates on theirs.

Walking in front of the man I bend down a little pulling his head up to face me. I give him a sly grin.

"Waky waky it's time for you to talk." I smack his cheek a little as his eyes open. His eyes show his fear of what is going to happen.

"Now I've heard that you haven't been talking to my men. How bout you try talking to me alright."

I let go of his head as it bounces back and forth. My men really did a number on him.

"Are you gonna talk or will I have to do a little it more convincing?"

He's silent. His mouth makes no move to open. I suck in a breath through my teeth.

"Fine. Have it your way." I stand up and over grabbing a dirty syringe from the table. I was over and push the needle into his neck injecting a high dose of adrenaline.

I wait a few minutes for the effects to take hold. When his legs start to shake, and his breathing becomes shallow I know it has started working. I walk over to him and lean down.

"Now that you are awake let's get started, can't have you falling asleep on us during all of the fun."

I grabbed a handful of safety pins. I unclipped one and shoved it under his thumbnail. Then another and another I didn't stop until every one of his fingers had a safety pin poking out. His eyes held unleashed tears as he tried to hold back his cries.

I moved and grabbed a hammer and held it over his foot and looked him in the eye. When he made no move to talk I brought it down on his foot effectively crushing his foot. When he screamed I made no move to stop and hit his other foot. He was begging for me to stop but I move and hit his hand. I lift it up to hit his other hand.

"Please I'll tell you! I'll tell you everything!" His voice was hoarse but I could understand him.

"Go on." I take away the hammer but keep it in his eyesight.

"I was hired by Germans. They said that if I could get anything off of your family to tell them."

"What did they want to know?"

"They wanted to know about your youngest daughters."

"How do they know about them?"

"I don't know I swear. They just wanted anything I could get about them."

"Do you know what they are planning?"

"No, I promise." He rushed out satisfied with his answers I walk away and give Oliver a nod. He moves forward behind me and grabs out his gun. I hear the click of his safety going off and the man's begging for his life before Oliver pulls the trigger.

We have done this so many times I don't even have to ok at him to know what he is doing.

We head to the house again and both rush upstair before anyone can see us with blood splatter on our clothes.
