Riley's POV
It was the next day after we got back. I helped Dad in his office the whole day going through notes threatening my sisters and me. When I went to bed, I wasn't able to fall asleep.
Every time I closed my eyes I saw my sisters shot, stabbed, and beaten. When the sun rose in the morning I got up not paying attention to the actual time. I went to my bathroom and took a long shower, standing under the spray until it went cold.
Now dressed I'm trying to decide what to do. Today is Monday so we should have school but Dad is giving us the day off since we just got back and I feel like everything that happened yesterday earns us that.
Since I'm bored I decide to go on my phone. Ashton texted me last night so I text him back now. I know but I was tired last night. I simply text him back that I'm at home and not going to school today.
I hear movement outside my door as everyone else starts to get up as well. I walk out of my room and make my way downstairs to the kitchen. I see Dad and Oliver at the table drinking coffee.
"Morning Riley."
"Morning, where are you guys going?" I ask since I thought we all had the day off.
"Work, we have a meeting. He's one of our close friends so we make exceptions." Dad explains, I nod and then get an idea.
"Can I come?" They both look at me like Im crazy.
"Why?" Oliver asks me.
"I'm just going to be stuck here doing nothing all day." I shrug and grab an apple.
"I guess," Dad says.
"Hell yeah."
"No," Oliver says and gives me a dad look.
"Riley, are you ready?" Dad asks ignoring Oliver.
"Yes." I nod.
"Great let's go." He grabs his keys and we follow him out to one of the cars. I get in the backseat but sit in the middle while Dad drives.
He drives us to their office.
"What's your meeting about?"
"It's another company we have a partnership with. We have a meeting every quarter to discuss things and see if either of us wants a contract renewal."
"What's your partnership?"
"We own a chain of hotels together." That's kinda disappointing I was hoping for it to be a Mafia thing.
"So no mafia." Oliver looks into the rearview mirror eyeing me.
"Yes and no." I perk up. "We have an alliance with their mafia but the hotels are separate."
"Cool cool." I nod and look out the window.
"Your obsession with our businesses worries me slightly."
"I told you I need to build up my empire." They both shake their heads as we make it to the office.
Oliver opens my door for me and we all walk in with me in the middle of them. As we walk inside employees nod at Oliver and Dad. We go to the elevator and they click on the 10th floor.
We make it up and they lead me to their conference room. A young girl walks in with a handful of folders which she places around the room.
"Riley sit here." Dad points to the chair next to his.
I sit down and watch as Oliver sits across from me. I see the assistant lady gave me a folder so I started to flip through it.
"How many people are involved in this meeting?"
