lovers lake

Throughout the next couple of hours, Dustin is running around while staring at his compass, I have to yell at him not to run into trees or trip over tree trunks, it's just pure chaos. After a while Eddie and I are walking behind Dustin when he starts to run. Eddie and I start to pick up speed as well.

"I think we're getting close," Dustin almost walks straight into a lake but Eddie grabs the back of his shirt stopping him. We all stare out into the lake, and I cross my arms in defeat. While everyone else stares out at the lake.

"I thought these woods were familiar," Eddie sighs.

"Lover's lake," I mumble and get my flashlight.

Max looks around confused, "there is a gate in lovers lake?"

Nance looks out at the lake, "whenever the Demogorgon attacked, it always left a gate. Maybe Vecna is the same way?"

I nod and Steve starts to walk ahead, "there's only one way to find out."

We start walking a little until Eddie grabs my hand and brings everyone to a boat. The boat that he slept in when he was in hiding.

Steve and Eddie hold the boat still while Robin starts to climb in, Eddie makes his way in after, then Nancy. The three looks at me and I sigh, giving my Walkman to Dustin. Eddie helps me into the boat, then Steve climbs in. I take the Walkman back and sit next to Eddie. I hate boats so much, why am I doing this, I should've stayed with the kids, but it's too late, we are already on our way following Dustin's crazy compass.

Dustin tries to get in but Steve stops him and pushes him out, giving him a pair of binoculars. We slowly start to row out into the lake while i look at the water that is being pushed by the ores.

Robin starts to tease them by waving while Eddie and Steve paddle, "bedtimes at nine kiddos!"

I laugh a little and look at her as she stands up and continues, "miss you already!"

"Jesus Robin, sit down," I say and hold onto the boat while she laughs.

After a while Steve gives up on paddling and Robin takes over until Nance and I watch the compass go crazy.

"Woah guys slow down," Nance says and everyone stares at the compass.

Dustin calls in on the radio to ask what is going on. While Robin is explaining what is going on, Steve starts to take off his shoes, then socks, then his shirt. Eddie quickly covers my eyes and I swat his hands away. I go into Eddies pocket, and I take out a plastic shopping bag to put a flashlight in. I wrap it and tie it before giving it to him. Eddie gets out a cigarette and starts to light it until Robin takes it out of his mouth.

"Steve, be careful," Nance says as Robin and I look at each other then back at Nancy. Why is she dating Jonothan, Steve and Nancy would be a perfect couple but it's her life, so I won't judge. Steve jumps out of the boat causing it to rock and my first reaction is to grab onto something so naturally I grip Eddie's arm as hard as I can.

I stop quickly and Eddie smiles while wrapping his arm around my waist pulling me into him. Nancy times how long Steve has been under, we are closing in one a minute. After another minute Steve finally comes up, scaring the shit out of all of us.

"He was right there's a gate. Its pretty much a snack sized gate then a mama gate but yeah," While Steve is talking, he starts to get pulled under by something. He saves himself and we all stare at him confused before he actually gets pulled down. I breathe heavily and grab Eddie again.

"Holy shit!"

Nancy stands up and gets ready to dive in, but Eddie stops her, "stop what are you doing?"

"Just wait," and with that she dives into the water.

Robin sits on the edge of the boat, and I try to stop her, but she goes in to. Oh my god, I have to go in now. I slowly stand up and Eddie grabs my hand.

"No, not you too."

I nod and I kiss him quickly before diving into the water and swimming down. What am I doing? This is fucking crazy. I keep swimming down until I see the gate, I swim up and climb into the other world to see Robin and Nance.

"What the hell is this," I ask and catch my breath.

"Its the upside down."

Eddie climbs in too and shakes his hair dry.

"Gross, Eddie," Robin sighs and covers her face.

We stand there until we hear Steve screaming in the distance. We all start to run to where we hear the screaming which isn't that far. We grab oars from a boat and start to beat these bat looking things off of Steve. Until they come back and start to swarm us. We fight them by hitting them or grabbing them by the tail and throwing them on the ground until they're all dead or flew away.

Eddie starts to scream and I bring him to the side to calm him down, "Eddie its fine, breathe."

"Hey, do you think these bats have like, rabies," Robin asks and we all look at her, "Rabies are like my number one greatest fear and I think we should probably get you a doctor really soon because once the symptoms set in its too late you're already like dead."

We all start to huddle together as the bats start to come back and sit around the gate.

"Thats not that many, we can take them, right," I ask, and we look up as more come in. Holy shit this isn't good. Eddie holds my hand, and we prepare to fight until Nancy tells us to run into the woods. We all start to run while Eddie keeps a tight grip on my hand. I can already tell that this isn't going to be good.
