I looked myself over in the mirror. I was wearing a black crop top with areas cut off at the top, a mint green skater skirt, black high heels, a mint green triangle necklace, and a black cross body purse.

"You look hot. All the boys will be drooling over you." Lana said. She was wearing a midnight blue crop top, black leather pants, white high heels, and gold bracelets.

"Whatever." I said. "I didn't even wanna come to this party anyway. You dragged me into it." I complained.

"Stop being a baby. Next year will be senior year . You don't have your whole life to be a teenager, Nelle. Just have fun while you have the chance." She said while she was fixing her hair. As much as it pains me to admit it, Lana was totally right.

I heard my door bell ring. "Ugh. Who is it!" I groaned out, although I knew the person at the door couldn't hear me. "I'll be back." I told Lana. She wasn't listening anyway, she was too busy worried about her hair.

I walked slowly down the stairs, trying not to trip due to the high heels I had on. Once I reached the bottom of the stairs, I began to walk my normal pace. I turned the door knob and opened the door. "Hello-" I paused when I saw the face at the door. "Mom?"

"Janelle!" She yelled excitedly before squeezing me into a hug. "I've missed you so much." She released me and gasped. "You look amazing. Are you going out somewhere? Oh my gosh my baby's growing up." She said, wiping her fake tears away. "Ugh. Danny! Would you come on!" She yelled, facing the driveway.

"Wait. Who the hell is Danny?" I asked, sticking my head out of the door.

"Hey. Watch your mouth." She told me. My mom had always hated when I cursed.

"Who the heck is Danny?" I said, re-phrasing the sentence.

Soon, a man-who looked like he was in about his mid thirties- appeared at my front door. He had dark hair, pale skin, green eyes, and a piercing in his left ear. "Janelle. Meet my fiancé, Danny." She said.

I froze. I literally froze. "What the hell!" I yelled.

"Didn't I tell you to watch your m-"

"What the hell!!" I yelled a little louder.

"Janelle! You're making a scene. Calm down." She told me.

A tear drop suddenly fell from my eye. "I thought you came here because you missed me and you wanted to see me after practically giving me away to dad and practically making us move halfway across the damn country! Not to introduce me to your fucking fiancé. I don't want a step dad. He's not my dad!" I yelled. My moms face looked like she'd just done something horrible to me, which she has. "I can't believe you!" I finished.

"Janelle. I-I-"

"I-I. What? You don't have any words? Oh well. I don't want to hear anything. Go back to California. I don't want to see you anymore." I said. "Lana! Let's go!" Lana instantly ran downstairs. She gave my mom a confused look.

I grabbed Lana's wrist and pulled her with me out of the door.

"Janelle." My mom called my name softly. I turned around and looked at her. "I'm not going anywhere." She said. "I love you." She grabbed Danny's-or whatever the fuck his name is- hand and got back in her car (a red mustang). She drove off. I watched her drive off and I didn't feel a single thing but anger.

I rolled my eyes. "Who is that lady?" Lana whispered.

"My mom." I told her. "Let's go Lana."

This night was already turning out bad and I wasn't even at the damn part yet. I can't believe my mom would just forget about my dad and agree to marry someone else.
