Steve waved his arms trying to hit those nasty flying things, he could feel their teeth tearing his hip as if they were trying to reach his kidneys, the tail of the third one was strangling him and the brunet felt less and less strength; his vision began to blur, everything was getting darker, he could almost swear he was seeing the inside of his eye sockets, the absence of air was burning in his lungs. Then he felt a foreign presence around him and one of the "bats" flew away with a strong impact, it must have been one on his side, because he felt greater relief there; the other one followed a few moments later and the relief from the pain gave him enough strength to pull lightly on the tail of the one that was strangling him, at that moment he was able to focus better on his surroundings, although he must have been suffering from hallucinations because he would swear he saw a couple of demo dogs attacking the "bats" that had been feeding on him. Steve bit the bat's tail but couldn't get it to let go, then it too took a hit and, disoriented, it was easy to get away from him; the brunet uncurled his grip but didn't let go, standing up and grabbing it with all his might, he began to slam it to the ground with all the force at his disposal.

-Well, well, princess, you'll never cease to amaze me.

Steve stiffened at the sound of that voice, a deep, playful tone, a voice that had haunted him in his dreams and nightmares. He turned his face slowly having only two theories in mind: it was either a mirage, one more memory that had crept into his mind from lack of air, or it was Vecna trying to manipulate his mind just as he had done with Max. He knew he could do it, Max had seen him in the cemetery, but it wasn't real, he was dead. And yet, when Steve looked behind him, he saw the ghost that had been haunting his days and nights since that horrible summer. There, standing, with his impossibly tight jeans torn, his white tank top full of dirt, his curls a bird's nest and his face and body full of wounds... was Billy.

-No... no... -You're not real...you're not...you're not.

-Steve!

Nancy's voice broke the spell and Steve looked away to look for the girl, who was running towards him with Robin and Eddie behind her, for an instant the brunet expected Billy to disappear when he looked back, but the surprised expression on the faces of the three confirmed to him that they saw the same thing.

-Bi... Billy -Eddie stammered -You're alive, man, you're alive!

-Not for long, Munson, if you keep shouting like that, and neither are you.

-But... how? You... -stammered Robin -We saw it!

The blond looked away from them and raised his eyes to the sky, they all looked at him seeing the flock of "bats" coming towards them, then Billy shrieked and two demo dogs appeared to stand next to them, the four  looked even more shocked.

-How... How?

-Well, your dear Dustin found out they can be tamed, didn't he? D'Art even helped you, he died for you or something, am I wrong?

-No...

-Well, I've trained my own -he smiled stroking the monsters' heads, then pulled out a couple of chocolate bars and handed them, the "dogs" seemed affectionate with him -This one is Dipshit and this one is... uhm.... Princess
