Greek Gods in the 80's AU

That the gods are immortal is a relatively true statement that needs some clarification, indeed, the gods are immortal in that their souls never perish, but their lives strictly speaking are mortal. In their first life, the one in which they were born and were most powerful, they were gods as we imagine them and lived from the worship of humans, but with the end of the ancient religions, the gods perished in their first life, and since then they have been reborn again and again since their souls never die. When a god is born in their new life they do not remember anything, it is necessary that a crucial event happens in their existence for everything to return to them, then they do know everything that has happened and dominate their powers completely, but they will never recover their primary form of light and divine power.

Billy had never been aware of anything, he only knew that for some strange reason most people either hated him or wanted to sleep with him, he seemed to be a magnet for trouble, he was always in the middle of fights and everyone was afraid of him. He had never understood why he stirred up so much violence even when he was just sitting quietly, nor did he understand why it amused him so much to witness it, generate it or participate in it, nor why in sex it was impossible for him to be a careful lover.

Not until that day in September when he parked his Camaro in the Hawkins High School parking lot and as he got out he saw in a sleek car a boy with pale skin, round lips, big brown eyes, soft features and brown hair. Billy suddenly felt like he was losing his balance so he leaned against his car, everything was moving very fast around him, like he was in a hurricane but he knew he was standing still, and his skin was burning but he was cold, his eyes stung, his hands tingled, and suddenly hundreds of images came to his mind as if they had always been there. It wasn't him, it wasn't the same face or the same body, not even the same name, but for some reason he knew they were his memories, that he was all those people. Ares, that name echoed in his ears as if it had always belonged there, his heart gave a strong beat as he realized the boy was looking at him and his eyes widened in shock and recognition, then all the images changed, they were about another person who also had different names and appearances, but still he knew it was the same person, Aphrodite echoed in his ears.

The feeling was gone, Billy was able to stand up calmly realizing that his cigarette was gone, he took it from his lips and threw it on the ground, the boy followed his movements. Now everything felt different, suddenly he knew the whole truth, everything he had been, and he knew who the boy looking at him was even though he didn't really know, his feet wanted to move towards him and take him in his arms but he stood still, he smiled half sideways and walked away. He crossed paths with the boy in the corridors, the dining room and some classes, their eyes always connected for a few seconds and Billy could see how the boy bit his lip and he felt his whole body burn. Finally, at the last minute, came PE class with the coach, who decided to have a basketball game. Billy quickly took off his shirt choosing a team, the brunet looked across the court at him, he lightly touched his but left it on. The match was hard, it was strange to feel that he didn't know his opponent, the boy in front of him, but at the same time he knew perfectly the soul locked inside him, Aphrodite. At one point Billy blocked the boy and the boy's back was pressed against his chest.

-So you're Steve Harrington, huh? Around here they say you run the school, King Steve they call you -he grinned, chuckling as he nudged him with his sweaty chest

-Shut up and concentrate on the game

-I've heard other rumors too, like you've slept with half the school and the other half you've messed up with, you're kind of easy
