"Kid?" A grumbly voice said beside her nudging her awake with his knee she looked up at him then around them.

"Thank you Mac, here" Y/n said handing him a few dollars he smiled placing them back into her hand.

"You just get on home safe now alright?" He asked, she smiled looking up at the elderly trucker. He smiled back to her watching her get down the steps and turn towards the Hawkins sign.

She shut the door and made her way into town it was midnight, Hawkins has never felt so peaceful then how it was at night, the stars even overpowering the dim lampposts.

"I'm home" she whispered feeling tears in her eyes.

She sat down on the curb pulling out the last of the food she had, until a noise came from down the street.

Looking up Y/n moved towards one of the back alleys as a car drove past not wanting to see anyone just get. Eating half a sandwich and leaving the rest for the morning she continued to walk around Hawkins until she made it home early. Just seeing her Mother through lazily closed curtains, walk towards the kitchen.

"Come on" she mumbled to herself just managing to take another step she looked towards the kitchen window seeing her Mother holding a bowl of cat food.

Y/n sighed pulling her bag tighter as she made her way towards the door.

Knocking lightly.

"Dusty! Get the door!" Her mother shouted loudly. Chuckling as tears filled her eyes she wiped them away hearing a series of quiet curse words from her little brother.

"I'm coming" he mumbled as their mother shouted in the background again.

"I'm going Mom!" He shouted back pulling the door open.

He stared up at her surprised.

"Y/n" he stated, frozen, she managed a nod as he rushed towards her.

"Oh my god" he cried into her chest holding her tightly.

"I'm back curly tiger I'm back" she gasped into his curly hair noticing how much he had grown his head just past her shoulders, how many memories had she missed thanks to her dead beat Dad.

"Dusty who is it?" Her Mother called as Y/n cried a little louder at her Mother's now clearer voice as she walked towards the front door.

"Y/n..." Her Mother whispered tears already falling down her cheeks.

"Hey Mom" Y/n cried still holding onto Dustin, her Mother hurried forward just like Dustin has pulling them both forward into her chest.

"My girls back, my beautiful girls back" she heard her Mom repeat.

"I'm sorry it's early" Y/n whispered noticing they were both in their PJ's.

"No, no apologies in come on, we'll get you some food and then you just sleep, you look like a corpse" her Mother said as a joke but Y/n knew she did.

"I know, an elderly truck driver let me ride with him, didn't get much sleep not very quiet on the road" Y/n mumbled pushing her hair back as her Mother noticed the light bruises on her jaw.

Nodding towards them as Dustin made his way back to his room.

"I'm okay now" Y/n mouthed to her making her Mom nod.

"Pancakes? Bacon eggs?" Her Mom checked Y/n instantly nodded thankful for her Mother's warm embrace again as she wrapped her arms around her.

Her warm bedrobe fluffy with small patterns over it.

"I love you Mom" Y/n gasped out.

"I love you too my girl, let's get some food into then you can shower and sleep, that's an order alright? I still have all your clothes...I don't know if they'll fit you... you're, you're a little smaller now" her Mother whispered the last sentence while Y/n nodded.
