⚊ chapter eleven

Saying goodbye is hard.

I hated goodbyes.

Especially saying goodbyes to the end of your summer vacation.

Good bye to the sleeping in late, having your own breakfast at afternoon and do the same almost every day. It was hello to uniforms, crying over tests and suffering through pop quizzes, and staying up late to study.

This summer was definitely the most memorable of all because of him.

Because I was getting closer now to Heeseung.

I slipped on my long sleeved white uniform with my plain grey skirt, then my navy blue coat along the striped bow tie for the last piece.

Maybe I did grow a few inches like Yuna said over the summer. My skirt had gotten shorter, but not short enough to get me in trouble with the school and of course, my brother.

After I've taken my bath and blowed out dry my hair, I put some concealer to hide my blemishes and a lip balm before the face powder. Then I'm good to go.

I only wanted to look human anyway in school, not to look like a doll.

Then what? Comes out like a different person once you were push to the pool? I'm sorry, make up is not just for me.

Truth to be told, I'm just jealous of the other girls who could do their make ups properly. I can't even do a contour on my face right.

Enough with that!

Time to face another problem, the start of this junior year.

I walked downstairs with my bright yellow bag, it's actually bought from a Minion's merchandise online and I dropped them by the hook in the garage door before I entered the kitchen.

My whole family except for Dahyun not being here was sitting at the dining table and I sat down and joined them for breakfast.

This was something that only happened on my first day of school every year. Normally, my parents would go early in their work places. Still, I appreciate them making the effort to stay for us a little more.

If only to give more strength and reassurance in my first day.

"Good morning Sunny!", My mom chirped, "My baby looks so cute today!"

"Of course, she got the looks from her brother, after all", Sunoo says instantly as he looks up from drinking a yogurt milk.

I started eating the breakfast my mom made for me and quietly listen to their morning conversations, like who would look out for me after school?

"Are you excited, Sun?", My dad asked, smoothing out his suit.

Sun is one of the nicknames that were reserved for my family or for my dad only.

Even though I hated the nickname, it always somehow made me feel safe and secure and you know, also happy to see my dad's smile whenever he calls me that nickname.

I shrugged, "Kinda nervous because two of my friends had already left for college"

Sunoo gave me a reassuring smile, "You'll be fine, you're more smarter than I am, so you'll survive it better than I did"

"Thanks, Sunoo", I said as I started to eat the last of my food.

God, I can't even talk to him without feeling guilty. Here he was smiling at me without the knowledge of what I'm doing with his friend.

"What about you? Excited at your last year in highschool?", my dad asked to him.

It's his last year in highschool with the rest of his friends. Well, save for Ni-ki, I guess. He is a year younger than I. He will be left alone by everyone next year from what I could see.
