"Why don't you let me take you to breakfast tomorrow? Get him out your head?"

Luna sat in Theodore's car, parked outside her house. She kept her attention on her lap as she felt him slide closer.

"He's not one of us sweetheart, and you know he'll only be going back to Betsy."

Luna turned to look up at him.

"You can't tell me I'm wrong sweetheart, that's just the way things go." Theodore shrugged. "Ace and Betsy rule over Castle Rock, we rule over the View. That's just how it is, you can't just mix it all up."

Luna looked back at her lap. "I'm just gonna go inside."

"Did you want breakfast tomorrow?"

She reached out and placed a hand on the car door handle as she shrugged gently before remembering why her and Ace had done this in the first place.

To give Theodore the chance to change for her.

"Yeah sure, we can do breakfast tomorrow." She mumbled giving him a small smile.

"Great, I'll pick you up at 9?"

Luna nodded as she quickly got out the car and walked up to her house. Refusing to look back, she went straight in and shut the door behind her.

"Luna sweetie, that you?"

Luna's mother appeared in the doorway. "Theodore again?"

Luna nodded slowly as she saw her mum's expression change.

"What's wrong? What did he do?"

"How'd you know it was him that did something?"

Her mum shrugged. "He's a guy, it's usually the guy."

Luna sighed. "Well this time it's me." She mumbled as she tried to walk over to the stairs but her mum reached out and grabbed her arm, holding her back.

"What happened?"

"You'd only judge me so probably best you don't hear it." Luna mumbled as she tried to walk away but was tugged back.

"Try me." Her mum pushed with a small smile.

Luna sighed and nodded. Her friends had judged her for the fake relationship with Ace, what would it hurt to have her mum do the same. She was led into the kitchen where her mum poured them both a glass of wine and handed hers over to Luna.

"Mum, it's still early." Luna laughed out.

Her mum shrugged. "Something tells me this story needs it."

Luna paused before quickly chugging the glass as her mum laughed and topped it up.

"Right, from the beginning love."

Luna took a deep breath as she looked up at her mother. "See, it started when I broke up with Theodore, there was this other couple nearby that had actually just broke up at the same time..."

"So he wanted to miss the moment you two were meant to fake break up?" Luna's mother asked as she tried to work her head around it.

Luna nodded slowly. "So even though the girls rang him telling him I was sick turns out he got his mate to do the same."

Luna's mother stared at her daughter blankly. "And you can't work out why?" She asked with a small smile.

Luna shook her head.

"Has it crossed your mind that maybe he didn't want to fake break up?" She asked.
