Ross, Val and Jessie leave the base early the next morning. Eddie is left behind to guard the base.
They are going to recruit the other base into their own.
Torn limbs and heavy blood stench greet their arrivals.
"Sh*t! We are too late!"
Ross rushes ahead to open the path for his teammates. He transforms into a fire breathing dragon and massacres the zombies.
Val follows him closely. Jessie guards their backs.
Zombies are roaming freely in Carl's small base.
The teens kill zombies while trying to look out for any survivors. They manage to save ten folks.
Ross looks around. No sign of Carl. He grabs one of the survivors.
He asks, "Where is Carl?"
The guy is too frightened to speak at first.
After Ross shakes him up, he finally says, "Zombies breached in. Everything was too chaotic... I don't know... Please don't harm me...
Ross releases him.
He orders, "Jessie, find a safe house nearby and settle them in first. Val, you come with me. Let's look for the others."
"Okay," replies Val.
Jessie orders, "You heard him. Move out. Grab a weapon and defend yourself. I'm not responsible for your life."
She has a mind like Ross. She won't guard weaklings.
You wanna live? Fight for your life. That's how to survive in Apocalypse World. No one is willing to be a savior and protect everyone.
The frightened survivors take everything usable as weapons. From loose bricks to broken frying pan. Anything they could find down here in the sewer area.
Jessie ignores them. She is only responsible for killing zombies ahead of them. Survival depends on their lucks and strong will to survive.
They lost another survivor before they got into a safe house in the neighborhood.
After clearing the zombies within it, Jessie leaves at once. She orders them to barricade the door.
She strides away leaving frozen zombies behind her. It's an amazing sight considering it's very hot today.
A summer day like this feels like Hell on earth. Especially with no running air conditioning. It could reach to 45 Celsius degree in midday. And minus 10 Celsius degree at midnight.
The survivors take a peek through a window at second floor. They admire her after watching zombie Popsicles scattered in the street.
After Apocalypse arrives, there is no celebrity or idols anymore. Only admiration for strong ability users.
Jessie doesn't know she has carved a deep impression in their hearts. Her fan base starts today.
Ross charges ahead and slashes away another zombie. It seems endless. These creatures have evolved. They have gathered here to feast on weak humans.
He laments they got here too late. If not, there wouldn't be many casualties.
Blood splashed on tunnel walls like eerie red paint. It made one sick just by looking at them.
A zombie roars and jumps down from an open manhole above them.
His shiny helmet is a total contrast to other zombie heads.
"Not you again..." laments Ross.
After he got separated from others, he encountered this indestructible zombie. He barely escaped alive.
