Braelynn's POV:
Mom was just looking at the view and holding onto her necklace, and I can't stand seeing her like this because she looks like she's been carrying pain for years now, and she's also tired, and she's been holding on to her necklace tight, stopping her tears from falling, and she bit her lower lip.
"Mom, are you okay?" I touched her shoulder and she looked at me. I saw a tear falling from her cheek and she quickly wiped it off and forced a smile.
"Yes, anak." She said and I hugged her as tight as I could.
We went inside Starbucks and I ordered for both of us while mom was still staring at the view and couldn't take her gaze away from it, and I just smiled sadly while looking at her because she looks tired from the pain she's in.
While drinking my coffee, I was shocked when she started crying all of a sudden. "I-It's all my fault..." She said and she covered her face while crying.
"What? I don't understand, mom. What do you mean?" I said and she just kept crying so I stood up from my seat and hugged her tight.
"I hurt them both... your dad and him. It's all my fault." She won't stop crying and I can't control my tears anymore. Seeing my mom like this is my weakness.
"Don't blame yourself, and whatever you're going through right now, don't blame yourself because I know it was never your intention to hurt them. I know you're not like that, and you'd never hurt someone without a reason." I said.
"No, brae, you don't understand...I've been living with this guilt and pain for years and I can't seem to let it go no matter how hard I try, and your father is also suffering because of me." She said.
"Then make me understand, mom. What's been hurting you all these years?" I said and she shook her head.
Lynn Walter's POV:
(FLASHBACK)
I saw him outside the church while I was getting married, and his eyes were filled with pain. I couldn't do anything but stand there and look at him, which is what I regret the most. I wish I had been able to ran over to him, give him a hug, and tell him that he is the only man I will ever truly love.
"I'm sorry..." I whispered to myself.
(END OF FLASHBACK)
On that day, I stopped hoping for us because I knew our love story had ended the moment I entered the church and we had to begin a new life apart. We had no control over this; it was fate's plan for us, and all we can do is accept it and move on.
Braelynn's POV:
Mom has stopped crying and has calmed down, and she is now happily chatting with me, smiling widely and looking so happy, but the pain in his eyes is still visible.
She smiles so widely, but her eyes look so sad.
"You know what, when you came, I felt like the happiest person in the world, and me and your dad couldn't be happier that day, and we're so lucky to have such an independent, smart, and beautiful daughter like you." She said and I chuckled.
"Mom." I called her and she frowned. "There's something I really want to ask you about... Did you ever love dad? or do you really love him?" I asked and her smile suddenly disappeared and she looked at me straight in the eyes.
"Never question my love for your father, Brae. I love him in ways that are difficult to explain, and he chose to understand and not leave me even though it was killing him inside." She said and I gulped. I didn't expect that answer from my mom.
