Chapter 11
OMOLARA'S POV
I ended up making the amala and stew all by myself. Amanda, Rita, and Bisi were not back so I just ate mine and kept theirs for them.Ayo just had to wait, that was it. The thing is I still liked him and I wanted him to be my first boyfriend so bad. I decided I would not tell my friends anything, there is no need to tell them anything. He’s the only guy that I’ve actually given a chance.
My friends finally came back from God knows where. There was still tension between Rita and Amanda. They only gave one-word answers to each other.“Please tell me you guys didn’t finish the food” Bisi said, rushing to the kitchen.
“Where did you guys go?”
“While you were eating Ayo with your eyes, you didn’t notice the bags we carried with us. Well, we went to advertise my wigs and we also got buyers oh” Rita said.
“I’m happy for you, your business is moving"
“So did you guys eat the food or what?” Amanda wiggled her eyebrows.
“Yes, we did. We ate and just talked”
“That’s it?” Amanda interrogated me.
“Yes, that’s it. Please will you go and eat” She went to eat after much reticence. Rita also went in to get her food, at least dinner had been taken care of.When they had finished eating. I decided to speak to Rita and Amanda.
“Amanda and Rita, please stop this. Rita, please forgive her. This is not just between both of you, it’s affecting Bisi and me too. We’ve come too far to let these issues break us”
“She’s right, please if you don’t want to do it for yourselves think about Lara and me” Bisi added.
“Stop talking to us like we are kids joor” Amanda said.
“Then stop acting like kids and end this already, please” I responded, kind of harsh though.
“Okay. Rita, if there is anyone at fault, it’s me. You didn’t say anything bad for me to treat you the way I did. I’m sorry”
“It's fine, we all lose control and say hurtful things at times. Let’s forget this happened. It’s not like it’s the first time we are arguing. I’m also sorry for being selfish and not thinking about Bisi and Lara who are also in this friendship. I’m sorry I kept what was going on with me away from both of you” Rita said.
“It's alright, you didn’t have to”
“No, as best friends, we should tell each other what we are going through. Why go through tough times alone when we can go through it together, right?” We nodded in agreement.
“So from now on, no more secrets” Rita said as we all engulfed ourselves in a hug. This was one of the days I didn’t question this friendship. No matter how many times we fall out, we always fall back to one another. This was one of the beautiful things about friendship and I’m thankful that I made friends with the right people.
I almost forgot. There was still one secret I was keeping. This break between Ayo and I. I just had to keep this last one.
