Chapter 22
OMOLARA'S POV
A YEAR LATER.
A year ago, I got pregnant and I hated the child in my womb but right now, she was the person that gave me a reason to live. She was named Eriayomi which means my testimony of joy has arrived. The moment I laid my eyes on this little human, every anger and hate I had towards her vanished. She was three months old and growing really fast. I told myself that I'll do my best to train her with so much love even if her father didn't want to love her, I'll be there for her always. My joy, Eriayomi Stephanie Peter was her name. It was so sad how she looked so much like her father but he didn't like her. She would stretch out her hands to him, he'll push them away, he didn't even want her to touch him. But I made sure I tried to always give her the love she deserved. I was the only one she had and she was the only one I had.
Ayodeji and I finished university, although it was really stressful for me with the pregnancy. Ayo's dad helped us pay the rent for the first six months when we packed into the house, he said it was his wedding gift to us. Ayodeji was working here in Abuja. He was hardly at home, I didn't mind because when he comes we would constantly quarrel. He never forgot to remind me of how I ruined his life, he even did a DNA test to prove I gave birth to his child and it came out positive, he felt so stupid finding out that Eriayomi was really his flesh and blood.
Ayo was back, it was just 2:00 pm. I unlocked the door and went to play with my baby.
"I want to eat" He said.
"Go and cook something for yourself, I asked you for money to get some things even if it's just from the supermarket across the house but you ignored me. Now you want to eat"
"Lara, have you eaten?"
"Yes"
"Go and get me something to eat" I looked around like he wasn't talking to me.
"Lara! Are you mad?!"
"Don't shout at me joor. You have money but you didn't give me to buy anything so what did you expect me to cook?"
"I rather give a house help that money than give you before you steal the money"
"Please go ahead and give whoever you want to give, it'll save me a lot of stress. Better go and find what you will eat" Eriayomi started crying.
"Please shut that thing up" Ayo said.
"This thing is your child" I patted her back, she stopped crying.
"See how she's saying it with so much pride, that's the only thing you can achieve with your life"
"Ayo, I am not the reason you are a dreary person, who do you even think you that you believe having you in my life is an accomplishment, it's a curse"
"Then leave, get out"
"No go find food, I done chop. I have the strength to do this back and forth thing all day" I told him. He could only argue but could never force me to get something for him to eat. He left the house and only God knows when he came back. We stayed in separate rooms, I couldn't bear to lie down on the same bed with that fool.
I hated this life I was living but this was my life now.
