Chapter 14
OMOLARA'S POV
“Ayo”
“Lara, I know you said we needed a break but I need you” His voice sounded like there was distress behind it.
“Ayo, what’s wrong?”
“My dad, he’s in the hospital. My mum is so nervous and my best friends who I thought would be the best support system left me”
“Oh Ayo, I’m so sorry”
“I wish I could see you in person, Lara. You’ve become one of my favourite people. Please can you come over?”
“Ayo”
“Please Lara, please. I need you”
“Ayo, I’m sorry but I can’t come today”
“Okay, when then? I hope I don’t kill myself by then”
“On Friday? Please don’t do anything stupid”
“So I’ll have to wait till Friday to see you. I’ll try to wait”
“Please just wait” I replied him.
“Thanks Lara, at least you care. Good night”
“Good night, Ayo” I replied and ended the call. The break had not been easy, I missed him a lot. My friends suspected something was wrong between me and Ayo but I ascertained them that it was nothing.
The week ran swiftly and soon, it was Friday already. I was on my way to meet Ayodeji. I didn’t know what state he would be in but since he sent me the address, it was confirmed that he didn’t kill himself.“Lara, God, I’ve missed you so much” He said as he came to hug me.
“How are you?” I said looking into his eyes with my both hands on his face.
“I'm fine”
“Ayo, come on”
“Lara, I’m trying to be fine” tears were threatening to come out. I hugged him tight. I didn’t know what to say but I knew he needed a friend right now. He stood still for a while then he hugged me back and placed his head on my shoulder. He stayed like that until he moved his head close to my neck and kissed it.“Ayo” I inhaled a sharp breath. He didn’t stop, he continued kissing my neck.
“Ayo”
“Lara, please. I need this. Even if it’s just this one time, please” He was looking at me with teary eyes. I thought about it. Since everyone was doing it, it wouldn’t hurt if I did it too.
“Okay” Before I knew it, my clothes were off and I was on his bed.Ayo was the first guy to ever be this intimate with me. I didn’t know how to feel about that. I picked up my clothes and rushed to the bathroom to wear them. I heard him chuckling behind me. I came out of the bathroom feeling really shy.
“Thank you so much, Lara. Knowing I’m the first guy to have…”
“Ayo, I’ve helped you calm down now. I want to go home”
“Lara, did I hurt you while…”
“No, I just want to go”
He stood up to hug me.
“Please wear some clothes”
He chuckled again but wore his clothes. He hugged me and saw me off.I sat in the Uber thinking of what I just did with Ayo. Lara, what happened to waiting till marriage? I asked myself as I sat in the car.
I entered the apartment and saw my friends looking at Amanda’s phone with so much curiosity.“Hey” I said and they looked at me. Guilt written on their faces. I was worried.
“What is it?”
“It's nothing” Rita managed to say.
“What happened to no more secrets?”
“Okay. Amanda was scrolling through Instagram and saw Florence in our department posting Ayo. We thought it didn’t mean anything but Amanda wanted to find out more, so she asked Florence who he was to her and she said he is her boyfriend. She even sent chats and voice notes. Lara, those were not just flirty stuff, it was more than that. They were recent too” Rita said, she looked at me with so much pity.
“At least, thank God he didn’t get into your pants” Amanda said. Tears fell from my eyes.
“He just did”
