Chapter 2
OMOLARA'S POV
“Hey, beautiful”
“What do you want?”
“Nice to meet you too”
“I don’t have time for this, I’m heading somewhere”
“My name is Ayodeji”
“Okay”
What does this guy want?
“Why are you acting this way? Imagine if I just wanted to tell you that your money fell down or something”
“I’m guessing it didn’t, so what do you want?”
“What’s your name?”
“Omolara”
“Omolara, o ni lẹwa oju”
“Wow, your flirting game is weak”
“So complements have turned to flirting, I only said you have beautiful eyes. I guess you don’t get complements often”
“Are you done? I don’t have time to chat”
“Where are you heading to?”
“None of your business”
“If you think I’m leaving anytime soon, you are so mistaken”
“See me see wahala oh” He was silent and smiling beside me. I don’t know how somebody will be trekking to library, one human being will just come from nowhere and disturb me.
“So are you going to tell me where we are going to?”
“I’m going to the library”
“ Let’s go then”
“You don’t even have a book with you”
“Don’t worry about me” I scoffed. Who was worrying about this one? Wait oh, so this guy is following me to the library like this.
“Are you seriously following me to the library, Ayodeji?”
“Yes, I am. Hope you don’t have a boyfriend, I don’t want to get beaten”
“I have a boyfriend”
“You are lying and you’re bad at it”
“Just shut up abeg”
“Whatever you say ma'am”
“Which course do you study?” He asked. This guy is becoming too comfortable.
“International Relations, you?”
“Business administration, final year. I can’t wait to be out of University of Abuja”
“I'm in my final year too”
“Wow, I know it’s first class or nothing”
“Hmm, God willing”We finally reached the library and this guy sat down beside me. He picked a book from the shelf and was actually reading, he even turned to me so he could explain what he was reading. He is smart sha.
After spending three hours reading and trying really hard to ignore Ayodeji, I stood up to leave and he stood up too closing the book he was reading.
“Are you sure you have read enough, you can sit and keep reading”
“Lara, I know you just want to get rid of me but that’s not happening”
We left the library in silence.
“You stay off campus?” He asked.
“Ayodeji, please, I’m begging you in the name of God, leave me alone”
“I like you, Omolara”
“I don’t “
“Well, I’ll have to keep trying until you do”
“You really don’t take no for an answer, do you?”
“No, I don’t”
“Hmm, let’s see how it goes”
“I know what you are scared of, I’m not that kind of person” He said looking really serious.Let me be honest, I was starting to like him but I was scared and he knew it, I don’t even know this guy. I have very strict parents, especially my dad, and in the twenty-one years of my life, I have never had a boyfriend so that’s why I was being skeptical.
“Okay, let’s start by being friends”
“Okay, then friends” I replied. He hugged me and told me goodbye as he entered a cab heading to Lugbe.
Omolara, I hope you are not about to make a wrong decision.
