That was... awkward

Robin is organizing movie tape and once she turned around, Nancy was in front of the desk waiting for Robin to notice her. Robin finds herself smiling and says, "Oh hey Nance! What are you here for?"

Nancy smiles and suggests, "Why don't you come to my house for a change later?" She leans on the counter, leaving inches from their faces. Robin gets nervous and starts, "Oh um yeah sure I mean i'm not busy at all or doing anything later so yeah haha." Nancy smiled at Robin. Steve side eyes Robin and raises his eyebrows as Nancy leaves. Robin could tell he was making some sort of face without even looking.

"Shut up Steve," Robin says and hides her little smile. She loved hanging out with Nancy, it gave her so much joy. Especially since she will see her room and be at her house this time. Maybe she could have another sleepover.

Robin was turning the "open" sign to "closed", as she heard someone calling for her.
"Robin," a voice called.
Robin turns around to see Nancy again. She finds herself smiling almost immediately after Nancy called for her.

"What are you doing here Nance? I was just about to leave."
"I know, I came here to pick you up. I know Steve usually drives you but we can go to my house!"

Robin looks down hiding her smile. Nancy knew when her work ended, which for some reason made her happy. She considered going with Nancy because her mom wouldn't care if she was gone. She probably wouldn't even notice. So she decided to accept the ride.

"Sure!"

————————

In the car ride, it was mostly silent. Until Robin decides to break the silence and says, "Why do you want me to come to your house today? I'm just wondering."

Nancy keeps her eyes on the road and says, "I don't know, for fun I guess. I like hanging out with you!" Robin feels her cheeks heat up. "Just a warning though, Mike is annoying so just ignore him," Nancy adds on.

Robin stares at the back of Nancy's head and spoke, "I like hanging out with you too Nance."

Once they arrive, Nancy knocks and hears her mom yell, "Answer the door Mike!" Mike opens the door after some arguing on who would actually answer.
"So that's what you went out for, to pick up.. Robin?" He makes a face.
"Robin, I never see you hanging out with my sister."

Nancy smiles and says, "Yeah we are friends!" She glances at Robin.
Robin panics and says, "Yeah uh great friends actually!" Nancy looks back at Mike who lets them in the house.

Robin lets her eyes explore the house. It was pretty big.

"Oh welcome back Nancy! Who's your friend right there," her mom asks.
"This is Robin! We are going to go up to my room now. They head up to Nancy's room, which is very pink.

After Robin observes the room, she says, "Wow, your room is totally different from mine."
"I know right, I want to redecorate my room though. By the way.. You said we were great friends, is that true?"
"Uh yeah!"

Before asking, Robin starts touching her stuff, exploring the room more. She likes finding stuff that people own, it's interesting.

"Robin-"
"Oh my god sorry I should've asked first right," Robin turns around and puts her hands slightly up.
"No no, its okay I don't mind but I was just going to ask if you are going to come over here with me?"

Robin sighs of relief and nods. She goes over to her bed and sits next to Nancy. Not too close though because she knows she'd die of embarrassment or happiness. It's pretty silent just like how it was in the car ride, and Robin just really wants to just tell Nancy how she feels about her. She loved the way Nancy smiled, how she would laugh at the dumb things Robin says, and most of all, how she actually listens. Most people found Robin annoying, but Nancy didn't. She listened to every word Robin was saying. Robin loved that.

The only thing holding her back of telling Nancy her feelings was fear. The fear of Nancy stop being her friend or leaving her. And that's exactly what she hated about liking someone that much.

"Rob?"
Robin blinked a few times and glanced at Nancy, who's been staring at her for who knows how long.
"Sorry, I just spaced out."
"I know, just making sure you're okay," Nancy says with a soft voice.

Robin swallows and spits out, trying not to choke up on her words, "No yeah, im good just thinkin." Nancy pauses before saying something.

"You think a lot don't you," she gives a small smile, and Robin feels her face heating up already.

"Yeah I do I guess," Robin internally freaks out while speaking. She looks at Nancy, whose is already looking at her. She gets embarrassed so she faces her head the other way again.

"What do you always think about? Just curious," Nancy asks, still staring at Robin.

Robin considered making up something or lying, but she accidentally said under her breath, "You."
Nancy stops smiling for a second since she was surprised Robin actually said that. She wanted her to say that but didn't expect it to actually come out of Robin's mouth.

"Oh god sorry I didn't mean to make it weird or anything sorry-"
"No, it's sort of.. Cute," Nancy interrupts looking down with her face a shade of pink.

"Sorry, I don't know why im acting like this recently," Nancy quickly mutters and brushes it off. Robin smiles and also can feel her face turning a shade of pink.

"No it's alr-"

Mike slams open the door and says, "Nan- why do you guys look like you just confessed your love?"
Nancy and Robin look straight at him, highly embarrassed. Nancy gets up and walks over to the door.

"Knock first," she says and slams the door. There was an odd tension left hanging in the air.
"Sorry about, my brother.."

Robin just stares at Nancy while thinking of a million things at once. "Nancy is so pretty. She's actually gorgeous. I want to hug her tightly so bad and tell her how much I like her," Robin thought.

"It's fine," Robin replies. Nancy nods and walks over to Robin.

"Do you want to go to the nearest park for some air maybe?"
"Sure yeah it's really hot in here," Robin says and wipes off invisible sweat.

——————————————————————-

Nancy and Robin get out of the car to see two familiar faces.
"Steve, Eddie," Robin says, clearly relived they were here. She wanted a distraction from the awkward tension she had between Nancy right now anyways.

——————

"What are you guys doing here?" Nancy shifts where shes sitting while speaking.
"We were about to go swimming, we just happened to stop here because Eddie wanted to for some reason," Steve answered.

Robin and Nancy looked at each other and Robin did not get the hint. Out of nowhere, Nancy asks, "Could we come along?"

Robin was surprised and confused because she didn't know why Nancy made a head motion before, but now she knows why. She didn't like swimming that much, but would go if it means Nancy would be going. But one thing she wasn't looking forward to was seeing Nancy in a bathing suit. Most people would dream about seeing their crush in a bathing suit, but Robin knows she would be awkward and blushing the whole time.

Yet, Robin still agrees to come after Eddie and Steve say they can come. She had no idea what she got herself into.
