3 Years Later
Taylor Swift's point of View
Dear Diary,
I'm officially over three years cancer free. I may be up for a lung transplant because of my decreased lung capacity but I will most likely only live with one because of the risk my cancer comes back. Elliot is going to be four in a few months which feels absolutely insane. I mean, Olivia is in her 20s! I can't believe she's 21. Benji is 14 and Julie just turned 13. Liv officially got her GED but decided to become a stay at home mom for now. The two of them recently moved out into their own place which is great but I miss being able to see my grand baby every day. The Lucas boy is getting an engineering degree which he almost has. I have my life back. I have my kids and Joe. I have everything I need. Liv and Lucas are visiting and I just can't wait to see them. As much as I doubted their ability to stay as a couple and actually make it, they did it. They're still in love and have matured significantly. It's crazy to think that a teenage marriage worked out. Maybe I should have had more faith in Olivia back then.
Apparently the two of them have a huge announcement and we are stoked to see what it is. I'm always so happy to see my kids being successful.- Taylor <3
My entry is interrupted by the doorbell ringing. I excitedly get up and open the door where I see the two of them. Olivia is wearing a large flowing sundress, and Elliot stands there wearing a fox onesie.
"He wanted to be a fox." Olivia sighs slightly as she holds Elliot's hand.
"Granddad!" Elliot yells letting go of Olivia. He runs up to Joe who picks him up and lifts him up in the air.
"Guys! I caught a fox! It's super crazy and dangerous!" Joe yells, exaggerating his words.
"No granddad ! It's me! I'm just dressed like a fox!" Elliot defends himself, trying to make it known that in fact, he is not an actual fox. Joe lifts him up and down tilting him side to side which makes Elliot giggle.
"False alarm! It's just Elliot in a fox costume!" Joe then sets him down on the ground.
"Now go say hi to your Nini." Joe orders him.
"Okay!" Elliot runs over to me and I pick him up and rest him on my right hip. I give him a small boop on the nose.
"You are a dashing little fox." I tell him.
"Hi Nini!"He smiles bright and I just closely hug him.
"I made some cookies just for you."
"Really?!"
"You know anytime you come to visit Nini's there's gonna be something baked for you." I have not quite accepted the title grandma. I feel too young for that. Joe doesn't mind granddad but I use Nini.
"What type of cookies?" He asks me.
"My famous chai cookies! Everyone loves them except your granddad. He's just not as cool as everyone else."
Elliot opens his mouth as if it's the shock of the century. He then sticks his tongue out at Joe which makes me laugh. Joe sticks his tongue out back at him. I also married a child. I take Elliot to the kitchen and sit him on the booster seat. I give him a cookie and he begins to stuff his face with it.
"What do you say to Nini?" Lucas asks Elliot.
"Thank you Nini!" He says with crumbs falling out of his mouth.
"Now to say a proper hi to you guys! I missed you so much. You guys sure you don't want to move back in?" I give Olivia and Lucas a hug.
"Mom, we're good." Olivia insists as she sits down next to Elliot.
"Well, I got some snacks out on the table there and some wine if you'd like some. I'm going to have a glass of Chardonnay. Would you guys like anything."
"I would-" Joe starts.
"Joe you can get it yourself. I'm talking to our guests." I think I'm overly excited to see them.
"You got Pinot Noir?" Lucas asks.
"She has everything." Olivia adds.
"You want the usual?" I ask Olivia.
"No, just water or ginger ale if you have it." An unusual request for Liv. I pour everyone their drinks and set a sippy cup of apple juice in front of Elliot. By the time I've done this half the snacks have been eaten mostly due to Olivia.
"So, what's the huge announcement?" I ask Liv as I take a sip of wine.
"Well, we wanted to tell you sooner but we decided to wait. Elliot, would you like to tell Nini the news?" Olivia looks over at Elliot.
"Mommy has a baby in her tummy! They said I'm going to be a brother!" He exclaims.
"You're pregnant!?" I nearly yell in pure excitement. Olivia takes a picture from her purse next to her and gives it to Joe and I. It's an ultrasound.
"We have been DYING to tell you but we wanted to wait until I was in my second trimester. So far the baby is healthy."
I look at the picture and begin to cry. My baby is all grown up. Having babies and living her own life. "Are you okay?" Lucas asks me.
"I'm just-I'm so unbelievably happy for you. I'm so excited. This is amazing. How far along are you?" I ask through tears.
"14 weeks." Liv tells me.
"We know we're young to be having two kids-" Lucas starts.
"You've proved that you can do it. I'm unbelievably proud of you. The two of you are amazing and I am so excited for this new baby. I'm going to need to get my sewing machine out and start to embroider."
"See, this is how I wish it went with Elliot."
"Okay but you were 16." Lucas adds.
"This is amazing you guys. Okay we need a group hug." Joe stands up and gets everyone in a group hug. I watch as Olivia sneaks snacks as we are literally hugging. God that's a mood.
"Elliot, how do you feel about being a brother?" I ask.
"Well, Mommy took me to get ice cream when she told me so I don't know. I just think about ice cream."
"Well, it's gonna be a huge responsibility so make sure you're up for it." Joe tells him.
"I'm a big boy. I can do it."
"Of course, I almost forgot." Joe says.
"I'm happy for you two. Were you trying or?"
"We weren't trying but we always knew we would want more kids." Lucas picks up Livs hand and kisses it.
"If it's a girl it better have my middle name." I insist which makes all the adults at the table laugh.
