'Y/n Aeron?' One of the nurses called out my name.
'Yes. Here.'
'We wanted to let you know that your mother is out of surgery, so that's the good news. And have you been able to reach your father?'
'Yes, I have. I expect him to arrive at any moment.'
'Great!' She started walking away.
'Wait! What did you mean by "that's the good news"? Are there any "bad news"? And when will I be able to see her?'
'She will need to remain under medical supervision for at least a few weeks. 7 of her ribs, both legs and left arm are broken, but the biggest concern is her heart. It is no longer pumping blood properly. This is because part of a steel skeleton pierced her left lung. This also injured her heart. She will need a heart transplant. We have already put her on the emergency list and hope to get a new heart soon. You can not go into her room, but you can have a look at her from the window of her room.'
I stood there in disbelief. Why on earth? Why had this happened to her? Of all the people. I don't wish this upon anyone, but why her? Why me? Why our family? I swear to God, life has something against me.
I sat down, hands on my head. Sobbing. Staring at the milk-coloured tiles on the ground. I noticed every little detail that I hadn't noticed earlier. I noticed how most of the people left the hospital happy, smiling, full of joy. That's going to be our case, too. Right?
'Y/n?' a voice echoed.
I looked up. My vision was poisoned from the news I had just received. I couldn't tell if I was hallucinating or not.
'Dad?'
'Oh, y/n!'
He hugged me. It was definitely him.
'Dad...' I broke down fully. I could feel something stuck in my throat. 'S-she...'
He cut me off, 'Shhh, don't talk.' His grip tightened. 'I'll be right back.' He went to the nurse that I had just talked to. They shook hands and she told him everything she had just told me. Tears started streaming down his face, too. I guess we had to leave the rest to fate.
