Shane angrily stomps his way over, his knuckles turning white as steam practically pours out of his ears.

"Is that Shane or a hippo?" Emerson says under her breath.

"Definitely a hippo" Daryl mutters as he finally makes his way over to them.

Emerson snorts at his remark before she is dropped onto the ground in front of Shane. He stands above her with his arms crossed and a hard look on his face.

"Where were you?" He questions loudly, as Daryl takes his leave towards his tent, not sparing another glance towards the two.

"Narnia" She states sarcastically. This only fuels his anger more as he leans down closer to her.

"I said where were you?" He lowly speaks, his face only inches from hers.

She grimaces at the close distance and opens her mouth to speak when he grabs her wrist harshly and takes her to a picnic table.

"Ow- hey let go" She grumbles out.

what is it with these people and dragging her?

"You will sit here until someone comes to get you, do ya understand?" He instructs with a cold gaze.

"I don't have to listen to-" Her voice is cut off once again.

"I said do ya understand!?" He finally snaps, she slightly flinches at his tone before nodding her head reluctantly.

"Good" He snarls before walking away.

Heads rise in their direction, confusion swarming their expressions, before they slowly return to their previous tasks.

Shane has already taken her bat and knife again. She clenches her fists as she thinks about where they would be hidden this time.

Emerson glares at the table in front of her, her breathing slightly heavy in result of her annoyance. She notices Shane and Lori glance at her as they speak.

Obviously they're talking about her, she rolls her eyes at them before turning away.

Who does he think he is?

They can't keep her here?

Can they?

A small shadow blocks the heat from the sun, she tenses up before seeing who it was.

A girl.

"Hello" She timidly speaks, a small smile laced on her face.

"Go away" She huffs, not wanting company.

The girl ignores her hurt and sits across from Emerson, her fingers nervously pick at her sleeve, almost unnoticeable bruises blotch her pale skin.

Emerson eyes it for a moment before looking up to the girl.

"What do you want?" She murmurs, rolling her eyes.

"Well you looked lonely so I thought i'd keep you company" She squeaks out, eyes darting between her tent and the girl in front of her, not wanting her father to catch her with the stranger.

"I'm Sophia" She tries again after receiving no response.

"I don't care" She spits out before turning her glare back to the table.

She hears the girl swallow before speaking again.

"Why are you alone?" She quietly asks, her face reflecting concern.

"Because, that dumbass Shane is making me sit here, now go away" She irritatedly states.

"Well-" Her small voice is cut of by a much louder one.

"SOPHIA!" The voice belongs to the big man, Sophia's father.

"Y-yes?" She replies, cowering back slightly.

She reminds Emerson of herself; from before the apocalypse of course. Her father would often use harsh tones as well, and she would act much like Sophia does when he was around.

"Why are you near that? It could have all types of infections!" His voice booms across camp, not even referring to Emerson as a person.

The others perked up in interest at the commotion, listening in to what was happening. She notices Sophia attempt to shrink smaller as he talks.

"If you're Mr. know it all, you should know when to shut up!" Emerson's voice trails across the camp, silence followed not long after.

"What did you say to me?" He bites out, standing to his feet and making his way over, he's almost at arms reach when-

"HEY" Shane's voice barks out as he stands in the short distance between them.

"You don't go anywhere near, them" He speaks as Ed's face drains of colour when Shane refers to Sophia as well.

"What?" He spits out, glancing around to see if the others heard.

"Yeah, I know what you do tough guy" Shane glares at him, confirming he knows about Ed's abusive nature.

"Don't know what your yapping about, Sophia lets go" Ed denies his accusation and leads Sophia away.

This might be the only time she likes Shane.

"Foods ready lets go" He states in aggravation, with a vivid eye roll.

Never mind.

"Careful you might find a brain there" She points out, climbing off the picnic bench.

"Watch it" He says, tone-threatening.

"What's got your knickers in a twist?" She questions almost inaudibly.

He only sends a glare her way before turning around and stomping away, she flips him off to his back before following.
