I stood over the jogging women. Her eyes glazed over on the park bench. The smell of sweat made my mouth water. Her mind was vacant. I heard the someone behind me. I turned and let a loud growl escape my lips. My fangs slide out with ease. Even my growl was different from before. It was a lot stronger. My parents looked at me shocked.
"Baby its just us." My mom said keeping her distance. I felt bad for growling at her, but I didn't want her to closer to me. This women was mine. "Riley just listen to me."
"I'm hungry..." I said at her still growling. I couldn't control it.
"Take your nail and cut a small slit in her neck." Mom was still keeping her distance from me. "Drink just enough from her and...." I snatched the woman by her arm and cut into her neck. Wasting no time I drank from her neck. She was shaking. "Sooth her, relax her brain." I pulled away and looked at the women.
"Sleep.." Her eyes shut right away. My mom stiffened behind me. I am guessing she wasn't expecting that. Blood filled my mouth again. Just a few more seconds.
"Riley let go." My mom said softly. I let go of her. The women was still asleep. "Your saliva will close the hole in her next." I licked the spot on her neck. Her blood didn't taste too good nor did her skin. "I believe you know what to do." I nodded my head.
"You'll wake up in one minute, when you do. You won't remember anything." I turned to mom who started walking. I followed behind her.
"You did better than I thought." I could see Dad standing under the tree still waiting.
"Sorry about the growling mom." I shoved my hands in my pockets feeling a little embarrassed.
"Don't be, when we hunt our true instincts kick in. We become primal and everything else about us shuts down. You were being protective of your pray." Dad grinned as wrapped his arms around me.
"Your mother knows it isn't wise to get close to any vampire during a hunt, its dangerous." I could see he was reminding her.
"Yes, but I wasn't in any danger. He has more control than we thought." I looked at the two of them.
"Aren't you two gonna hunt?" I asked them.
"No, I pretty set as far a blood." Mom said. I looked at Dad, his younger form took some getting use too.
"I don't drink human blood." Dad said to me. "It does something to me. So I stick to animal blood." I forgot mom told me that some vampires can't really handle it. Makes their true self come out.
"Which is what your dad will be showing you how to hunt." Dad took off again, Mom stayed by my side this time. It felt good to run, it felt free. Maybe this was why Jazz always wanted to run. Crap, I forgot that Jazz started freaking out the last time I saw her.
"Is Jazz and Ben okay?" I asked them both. It was a long full minute before my dad even said anything.
