"Focus Riley." Merlin said.
"I am." I had been sitting on the floor for eighteen hours straight with a numb ass. I was growing annoyed. All I had to do was remove the connection from Ben's mind. Which I know is easier said than done. I could not reach the doors in his mind. I could hear his thoughts, I could control him, I could talk to him in his mind. But I could not reach the "doors" in his mind to break his connection. I opened my eyes and looked at Merlin. "I can't do this."
"You can do this. Just focus." I closed my eyes again. "I'm going to play some relaxing music. It should help you." I breathed in slow with each breath I took. I let myself drift. I cleared myself as much as possible. Slowly, it felt like I was falling. I didn't open my eyes this time. Merlin told me to imagine a door. A white door appeared and opened itself. I went thru the door, this time I was inside of Ben's mind. I could hear everything he was thinking. I was lucky that I didn't find him doing something I had would regret seeing. He was playing the XBOX, perfectly unaware of me. In the corner of his mind was a door. The door was red, blood red. I came closer to it, as I did it sounded like a heartbeat was coming out of it. The door was full open for me to see inside of it. I peeked inside. I was Ms. Powell. Many images, some looked new others were old. There was a lot going on. I wanted to go in to see what I could find, but I knew I had job to do. Stepping back, I noticed another door that wasn't there before. It was black with bones around it. Just looking at it I knew it was something evil. Could it be possible that Ben had dark side? What did this door lead to? I wanted to know, but I couldn't bring myself to come closer to it. Ignored the door and went back to the red one. I grabbed the knob and tried to shut it. I couldn't get it to move. I couldn't get it move an inch. This was farthest I have gotten in all my hours, I wasn't going to give up. I kept pushing and pushing but it wouldn't move. Suddenly the door began suck things in, and if I stayed in longer in his mind, I would be too. Mr. Powell would know what I seen and would able to reach my mind. I felt myself falling. I opened my eyes.
"Merlin?" The stone room was empty. No dad, no Merline and no music. I stood up looking around. "Hello."
"My son." I heard a woman's voice behind me. I slowly turned to see who it was. If I wasn't a vampire I wouldn't believe what I saw. Standing in front of me was the women in the town statue. "My son, do not be alarmed." Her voice was as beautiful as she was. I quickly got my knees and bowed.
"I welcome the, blissitt the." I spoke to the goddess in front of me. My parents wasn't religious, but my grandparents were. My dad's parents always kept idles in the house of all the gods and goddess. Teaching me what they knew and what had been passed down to them. I knew the correct way to greet Dawn.
"Arise my child." I stood up looking at her. I watched as came closer. She touched my cheek. "My child, I watch all my children and the creations they bring the earth. It was not long ago, where I was once on earth as teenager."
"You were a teenager?" I blurted out. Okay, yeah I didn't know the correct way to talk to goddess. I didn't know how to talk to girls either. Dawn giggled and she took her hand away from my cheek.
"Yes, I was once like you. How else did you think I became a god." I smiled at her. "I was once like you, so I know the struggle at the age. But Riley, you must know that you aren't like most of my children. Some of which are different in many ways."
"What about me?" What was I?
"That is a question that even us gods are asking." She replied. "Some day, you are going to have make choices that only you can make."
"What kind of choice?" I asked.
" Choices that will change you and the world. Some of my children will not see things as you, which will make you second guess yourself. No matter what you have to stand firm to the choices you make." I knew she couldn't tell me what was going to happen to me. Yet, I wanted to ask.
"Am I the profit that everyone thinks I am?" I asked.
"My son, I call you my son because I look over this race as mother would. But in time, you will reach your answer." I came closer.
"Do you know about the door I saw with in Ben?" Maybe she knew what I saw. Just thinking about that door made me shiver.
Dawn shook her head, her dark hair shimmered in the moon coming from above. "My child, I do not know. For your friend is human and I can only see with in those of our kind." I wanted to know more. A lot more. "I must go my child."
"But there are things I want to know." I could feel myself falling again.
"Riley you have a long time to discover the answers." My eyes suddenly opened. My dad and Merlin were watching me.
"Are you okay?" My dad asked. Before I could say anything my dad say anything he spoke. "How did you do that?"
"I'm not sure. Suddenly she was there and I was talking to her. Wait how did you know something happened?" I asked. Merlin had his back turned looking for something.
"Riley, you cross over into the spirit world." Merlin said.
"I don't know how, I was looking in Ben's mind and found this creepy black door. When suddenly I was pulled. I thought my eyes were open, but then goddess Dawn was there and....
My dad grabbed my shoulders. "What did she say?"
"Darren, stop worrying." Dad let go of me as Merlin spoke. "You have to stop worrying so much. If the goddess spoken to him, she must have had a good reason."
"All she really said, was that I'll have to make choices that will change me." I left off the part about the world. I didn't want anyone to see me differently or think I was something I wasn't. "She said there are a lot of people in the world that are different because of what they can do. But it didn't mean they were what people thought they were." Dad helped me up.
"What were you saying about Ben?"
"I couldn't break the connection to him and Mrs. Powell, I tried but couldn't. There was this creepy black door." Just think about what I saw creeped me out.
"I've never heard of anything like that." Marline answered. "Then again, you can control humans."
"Just don't try that again." Dad said. "For my sake, I can see now from your own mind what you saw and it bugs the shit out of me. I wouldn't tell Ben either, sometimes humans have things locked away in their memory that don't want to recall. I think that's what the door means."
"Understood." I didn't want to ever do that again. Somethings are best not messed with."Hope your not too tired. There is some place I want to take you. Your birthday isn't over yet." I raised eyebrow at me. "Your mom is going to kill me if I take you." Now I was really interested.
